Children &Teens These emotion cards describe ways you mightthink, feel or act when you experience acertain emotion. Everyone experiences emotions in their ownway. You might think, feel or act in a similar ordifferent way to what’s on these cards. That’sokay. Remember that emotions come and go. Wemight experience an emotion for a short orlong time. Sometimes we might be happy andother times sad. There is no such thing as a ‘bad’ emotion - it isokay to experience any emotion! Sometimes we feel two or more emotions atthe same time. This is when we might have“mixed feelings”.allplaylearn.org.auTeachers& ParentsThese emotion cards can be used as a learningexperience for children and young people todiscover the thoughts, feelings and behavioursassociated with different emotions. They canalso be used as a way to express an emotion,if a child is struggling to find the words. Forexample, you could ask a child ‘Which faceshows how you are feeling today?’Younger children might not yet understandcomplex emotions. Guess the emotion: Choose a card, read oract out what’s on the back, and ask someoneto guess the emotion. Emotion storytelling: In a group, ask eachperson to choose an emotion card and tell astory about a time when they felt that way. Match the emotions to the person: Printimages or show videos of real peopleexpressing complex emotions.
