THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE STARTING YOUR VEHICLE 15RKE Key FobThe RKE Key Fob contains an emergency key, whichstores in the rear of the RKE Key Fob.The emergency key allows for entry into the vehicleshould the battery in the vehicle or the RKE Key Fob godead. The emergency key is also for locking the glovebox. You can keep the emergency key with you whenvalet parking.Keyless Push Button IgnitionTo remove the emergency key, slide the mechanical latchat the top of the RKE Key Fob sideways with your thumband then pull the key out with your other hand.2

16 THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE STARTING YOUR VEHICLENOTE: You can insert the double-sided emergency keyinto the lock cylinders with either side up.Ignition Or Accessory On MessageWhen opening the driver’s door when the ignition is inACC or ON (engine not running), a chime will sound toremind you to cycle the ignition to OFF. In addition to thechime, the ignition or accessory on message will displayin the cluster.RKE Key Fob With Emergency Key — Unlock Doors — Lock Doors — Remote Start — If Equipped — Unlock Liftgate — Panic AlarmNOTE: With the Uconnect system, the power windowswitches, radio, power sunroof (if equipped), and poweroutlets will remain active for up to 10 minutes after theignition is placed in the OFF position. Opening eitherfront door will cancel this feature. The time for thisfeature is programmable. Refer to “Uconnect Settings” in“Understanding Your Instrument Panel” for further information.

(Continued) Before exiting a vehicle, always shift the transmission into PARK, apply the parking brake, turn theengine OFF, remove the RKE Key Fob from theignition and lock your vehicle. If equipped withKeyless Enter-N-Go, always make sure the keylessignition node is in “OFF” mode, remove the RKEKey Fob from the vehicle and lock the vehicle. Never leave children alone in a vehicle, or withaccess to an unlocked vehicle. Allowing children to be in a vehicle unattended isdangerous for a number of reasons. A child orothers could be seriously or fatally injured. Children should be warned not to touch the parkingbrake, brake pedal or the gear selector. Do not leave the RKE Key Fob in or near thevehicle, or in a location accessible to children, anddo not leave the ignition of a vehicle equippedwith Keyless Enter-N-Go in the ACC or ON/RUNmode. A child could operate power windows, othercontrols, or move the vehicle. Do not leave children or animals inside parkedvehicles in hot weather. Interior heat build-up maycause serious injury or death.(Continued)CAUTION!An unlocked vehicle is an invitation. Always removethe RKE Key Fobs from vehicle, place the ignition inthe OFF position and lock all doors when leaving thevehicle unattended.2

The systemwill not allow the engine to crank if an invalid RKE KeyFob is used to start and operate the vehicle.
