00Freshman YearYour Goals: Transition from high school to collegeLeaving the comfort of home can be a scary yet exhilaratingexperience. It’s important to make yourself comfortable withyour new surroundings before you dive into the school year.Your Concerns: IndependenceGaining that much-craved independence seems lessglamorous when you realize you’re officially in charge ofyour own survival.Your Wants: Find a communityYou’re at a new school in a new town, and your first order ofbusiness is to make new friends! Feeling like you’re part of a tightknit community will be one of the most rewarding aspects of yourcollege career, so getting out there and meeting new peopleshould be a priority at this stage.Your Challenges: Putting yourself out thereStarting college is daunting: you may not know anyone, you’re inunfamiliar surroundings, and you’re really on your own for the firsttime! 02OrientationOrientation may sound like a lame obligation, but it’sactually a great opportunity to learn almost everythingyou need to know before starting classes, and a greatway to make new friends.
