It isavailable in Pentawatt package or 4-lead TO-3metal case. Current limiting, power limiting, thermalshutdown and input overvoltage protection (up toPentawatt TO-3 (4 lead)60 V) make the L200 virtually blow-out proof. The L200 can be used to replace fixed voltageregulators when high output voltage precision isrequired and eliminates the need to stock a rangeof fixed voltage regulators.ABSOLUTE MAXIMUM RATINGSSymbolValueUnitViDC Input VoltageParameter40VViPeak Input Voltage (10 ms)60V Vi-oDropout Voltage32VIoOutput Currentinternally limitedPtotPower Dissipationinternally limitedTstgStorage TemperatureTopOperating Junction Temperature for L200Cfor L200-55 to 150 C-25 to 150 C-55 to 150 CTHERMAL DATATO-3Pentawatt Rth j-caseThermal Resistance Junction-caseMax4 C/W3 C/WRth j-ambThermal Resistance Junction-ambientMax35 C/W50 C/WJanuary 20001/12

D1 prevents discharge of the battery throught the regulator. The resistor RL limits the reverse currents through therregulator (which should be 100 mA max) when the battery is accidentally reverse connected. If RL is in serieswith a bulb of 12 V/50 mA rating this will indicate incorrect connection.Figure 28. 30 W Motor Speed Control.Figure 29. Loww Turn on.Figure 30. Light Controller.9/12

It can be used as a part of protection circuit or as a voltage regulator. The use of the Zener diode as a regulator is so common that three conditions surrounding the analysis of the basic Zener regulator are considered: 1 Fixed load and xed supply voltage. 2 Fixed supply voltage and variable load. 3 Variable supply voltage and xed load.
