One of Roosevelt University’s six colleges, the prestigiousChicago College of Performing Arts (CCPA) provides professionalconservatory training in theatre, musical theatre, music and musiceducation in two divisions: The Theatre Conservatory and The MusicConservatory. Nearly 600 students come from more than 40 statesand 25 countries to study at CCPA.The faculty consists primarily of professional actors, directors andmusicians, including nearly 30 members of the Chicago Symphonyand Lyric Opera orchestras (half of whom are principals) and theatreperformers with credits from Broadway to Chicago and the West Coast.The CCPA got its start as the Chicago Musical College, the thirdconservatory to be founded in America, which was created by FlorenzZiegfeld, Sr. in 1867.In 1954, the Chicago Musical College merged with the then nineyear-old Roosevelt College. The theatre and the music programswere joined in 1997. In 2000, we chose the name Chicago Collegeof Performing Arts to reflect the shared strength of our creativedisciplines and to capture the greatness of the world-class city thatis our home.

Concert Halls andPerformance VenuesThe Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University is the crowningachievement of famed architects Dankmar Adler and Louis Sullivan. Itopened in 1889 and was immediately acclaimed as one of the mostbeautiful and functional theatres in the world. Its architectural integrityand perfect acoustics are internationally recognized.
