Special StridesNewsletterDate March 20, 2008Written by: Karen Goldberg1st Annual Bowl-a-Thonwas a Huge Success!Our first annual Bowl-a-Thon was held on March 9th at Brunswick Countrylanes in Manalapan. Thanks to all our sponsors and our amazing group ofteens that form our Junior Committee the event was a huge success. Over160 teens from the Old Bridge, Marlboro, Manalapan and Freehold areaparticipated and helped to raise over 37,000 for Special Strides and theSteven Werthan Memorial Scholarship Fund. All the teens learned thatgiving back is not only rewarding, but can also be fun. They also learnedthat they can make a difference in the life of a child with special needs. We had a wonderful turnout ofabout 45 kids.After giving out some more prizes and making final announcements we headeddown to the farm to visit the Special Strides horses and to celebrate our success ofthe Bowl-a-Thon with a bon-fire where we roasted marshmallows and mades’mores.It was a fantastic afternoon.
