An associate’sdegree from an accredited college may substitute for one and a half years of the requiredgeneral information technology experience. Only one degree may be used for substitution.When using education to meet minimum qualifications, education must include 15 semesterunits (or 22.5 quarter units) of information technology or closely related course work.POSITION DESCRIPTIONInformation Technology Supervisor 2This is the full supervisory level. Under general direction, incumbents plan, organize, anddirect the work of one or more information technology programs or units, and mayoccasionally perform the most difficult or sensitive work. This level directly or indirectlysupervises all lower level information technology and support staff performing work in anydomain or combination of domains. At this level, incumbents may also: identify, documentand monitor defined service levels and performance management standards; managecontracts; ensure compliance to project management standards; develop scope of work;and participate in vendor/product solution evaluation and selection.Bulletin Date: 7/18/2019

EXAMINATION SCOPEThis examination consists of the following components:Training and Experience Evaluation – Weighted 100% of the final score.The examination will consists solely of a Training and Experience Evaluation. Toobtain a position on the eligible list, a minimum score of 70% must be received.Applicants will receive their score upon completion of the Training and ExperienceEvaluation process.In addition to evaluating applicants’ relative knowledge, skills, and ability, asdemonstrated by quality and breadth of education and/or experience, emphasis in eachexam component will be measuring competitively, relative job demands, eachapplicant’s:Knowledge and AbilitiesAll knowledge and abilities of the Information Technology Supervisor I and InformationTechnology Specialist I classifications.ELIGIBLE LIST INFORMATIONA servicewide, open eligible list for the Information Technology Supervisor 2classification will be established for the State of California (all State of Californiadepartments, statewide).The names of successful competitors will be merged onto the eligible list in order of finalscore regardless of exam date. Eligibility expires twelve (12) months after it isestablished. Applicants must then retake the examination to reestablish eligibility.Veterans’ Preference will be granted for this examination. In accordance withGovernment Codes 18973.1 and 18973.5, whenever any veteran, or widow or widowerof a veteran achieves a passing score on an open examination, he or she shall beranked in the top rank of the resulting eligible list.Veterans status is verified by the California Department of Human Resources (CalHR).Information on this program and the Veterans’ Preference Application (Std. form 1093)is available online.
