There are eight novices at themoment: 4 Filipinos (Paolo Ferrer, Chuck Magno, NicoMariano, Niño Ramirez), 3 Thais (Raphael Tanet, PaulAnuwat, Matthew Thawatchai) and 1 from Sri Lanka(Anton Pumal). Br. Vince Fernandez is in his first year asNovice Master and he is ably assisted by Br. DenzilPerera. The novices end their novitiate in May and taketheir first vows in their respective countries. Since thescholasticate program begins in August, there will be aninterim program before they move into the scholasticate.De La Salle Lipa. There are five Brothers in DLSL: Br.Jun Estrellas (Director), Br. Kenneth Martinez (SchoolPresident), Br. Dante Amisola, Br. Edgar Esparagoza,and Br. Joseph Daluz. Br. Jun looks after CampusMinistry and the needs of the Brothers. The two youngBrothers (Edgar and Joseph) are full time teachers andthey help each other doing Vocation Promotion. Br.Kenneth is in his last year as President and is slowlyturning over things to Br. Dante who will take his placenext School Year. (Continued on next page)ISSUE No. 205 1 of 8

The LEAD PostulantsLFC. There are 10 postulants in the Lasallian Formation Center, five from Myanmar and five from thePhilippines. They are being accompanied by Br. Alex Diaz who is in his first year as Director of LFC. Br. Alexis supported by Br. Manny Hilado who works at La Salle Green Hills but helps out in the formation concernsof the LFC. In June, the postulants, accompanied by Br. Alex, will spend 8 weeks in Sri Lanka as preparationfor their novitiate which now begins in August. (Continued on next page)ISSUE No. 205 2 of 8

Bacolod. The Bacolod Brothers Community has six Brothers: Br.Bong Servando (Director and President of St. Joseph School-LaSalle), Br. Mawel Pajarillo (President of the University of St. LaSalle), Br. Dindo Maralit, Br. Mario Dacanay, Br. John Ong andBr. Cliff Sy. Br. Mawel is in his first year as President of USLSand he is assisted by Br. Dindo who is the Vice Chancellor forAdministration. Br. Bong commutes every day to Villamonte asPresident of St. Joseph School-La Salle. The two young Brotherswith Bong, teaching in St. Jo, are: Brs. John and Cliff. Br. Mario,fresh from a 3-month sabbatical, works in USLS as SportsConsultant.Kuching, Malaysia. I went to meet the Archbishop of Kuching,the Most Reverend John Ha to discuss the future of the Brothers’involvement in Sarawak. While there I spent some time withBrother Justin Mobilik.Singapore. I visited the two communities in Singapore: St.Patrick’s and St. Joseph Institution. There are currently nineBrothers working in Singapore: Brs. Nicholas Seet, Collin Wee,Danai Kingkarn, Gregory Lim, Kelvin Tan, Lawrence Humphrey,Ignaci Heri and Paul Ho. Nicholas teaches full time in St. Pat’s and Collin is Director of Hope House (housedin St. Pat’s). Br. Danai will be finishing his studiesat La Salle School for the Arts and is preparingfor a new ministry by August. In the othercommunity, Kelvin is teaching full time in SJI(Independent) while Auxiliary Visitor, Paul Ho, isconcurrently President of the same school. Ourcampus in Malcolm Park is currently beingrenovated and the holding campus is in Bishan.Br. Larry (recently visited by his Visitor, Br. LarrySchatz) is President of SJI International. Br.Ignaci is the other Brother in SJII teaching RME.I wish to thank all the Directors of thecommunities I visited for all the arrangements.And to all the Brothers for their warmth andhospitality.(Some photos from Br. La Salle College Hong Kong-Kowloon Rugby ChampionsOn Saturday 27th February the La Salle College B-Grade Rugby Team won the Championship of theHong Kong-Kowloon Inter-school Rugby Competition after two knockout pool rounds, a cup knockout,and the final. The All Hong Kong Final will be held in May against De La Salle, Champions of the NewTerritories. Visayas - Mindanao Brothers’ GatheringLast February 19 to 21 the Brothers fromthe Visayas and Mindanao regions of thePhilippines came together for ourVISMIN Gathering. Through this, theBrothers from Bacolod, Iligan andOzamiz got to spend time with natureand with each other.The Bacolod Community hosted thisyear's event. Brothers who arrived a dayahead of schedule were treated to one ofBacolod’s specialties: They had dinner atAida’s Chicken Inasal. On the 19th,Brothers who were available in theafternoon spent time to meet withBacolod Aspirants and Contacts. Massw a s c e l e b r a t e d i n t h e B ro t h e r s ’community and this was immediatelyfollowed by dinner. The group wastreated to after dinner desserts at Calea.On the 20th, a Saturday, the groupheaded off to Mambucal, a hot springresort. The overnight rest and recreationopened and closed with prayersprepared by Br. John Ong. The Brothersspent time together in faith sharing,eating and movie watching. SomeBrothers got the chance to visit thewater falls Mambucal is known for.Sunday lunch was spent with our visitor,Br. Dodo Fernandez FSC. Late in theafternoon, the Brothers from Ozamiz andIligan were brought to see the Ruins.This was followed by dinner in Silaybefore finally being dropped off at theairport.We thank Br.
