Fuel Pump TimingPage 3 of 12To verify that the fuel injection pump istimed correctly, first check the alignmentmarks on the pump flange and gearhousing.NOTE: 1 mm of rotation past thetiming mark will advance or retard(depending on direction of rotation)the pump timing by 1 degree.The Lucas CAV DPA, DPS, DelphiDP210, Stanadyne DB4, and the Bosch VE fuel injection pumps all have aprovision for locking the pump shaft at aposition corresponding to top dead centerfor cylinder Number 1. Doing socan result in fuel system failure.See Service Tool Instruction, Bulletin3400196 and Service Tool Catalog,Bulletin 3377710 to determine theappropriate Bosch timing tool andadapter kit part numbers.Install the timing indicator.
