You can create your own history trail, whatever your interests. There are maritime attractions, Civil War andother military attractions, andNote, though, that because of COVID-19 restrictions not all attractions are currently open and those that are open willhave capacity limits and may have reduced operating days and hours. As virus cases and hospitalizations decline and morepeople get vaccinations, restrictions are being relaxed. Be sure to call ahead or check the websites for the attractions youwant to visit to make sure they are open. Civil War Maritime Military VictorianCabrillo Marine Aquarium Largest collection of Southern California marine life on display in the world, outdoor tide pool touch tank. And here you’ll learn about the naturalhistory of San Pedro Bay from prehistoric times to present.Cabrillo Beach On the north is a calm, sandy shoreline; south is Hurricane Gulch, the open Pacific Ocean waters. And it’s home to the historic 1932 Bathhousethat was used during the 1932 Olympic Games in Los Angeles and where you’ll find lots of history about the area.SS Lane Victory A real World War II era steamship that still operates and which servedthrough the Vietnam War. In the ship’s museums, which are located in theformer cargo holds, you’ll learn about the heroic story of the MerchantMarine, whose members suffered the greatest rate of casualties during WorldWar II.LA’s Official Tall Ships The Exy Johnson and the Irving Johnson are the only twin brigantines in theworld. And they were built right along the San Pedro Waterfront. You cansail on these ships or visit them at the dock.Banning Museum Built in 1865 in the midst of the Civil War by the father of Los Angeles Harbor and today carefully preserved and restored.
