To help you determine which sessions will best match your professional development needs, each workshop listingincludes a corresponding track and competency area. MEET our HIGHLIGHT PRESENTERS continuedLella GandiniUnited States Liaison - Reggio Emilia ApproachLella Gandini currently serves as the United StatesLiaison for the dissemination of the Reggio EmiliaApproach, a position she has held since 1994.Since 1997, Dr. Gandini has been AssociateEditor of the journal Innovations in Early Childhood Education: TheInternational Reggio Exchange. Dr. Gandini is a graduate of SmithCollege, where she received an M.A. and B.A. in Education and ChildStudy. She received an Ed.D in Early Childhood, Human Developmentfrom the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in 1994, and wasawarded an honorary doctorate in Human Letters by the EriksonInstitute in 2004 and the Smith College Medal in 2009.Dr. Gandini has conducted research and held faculty positions at theUniversity of Massachusetts, Smith College and is a Visiting Scholarat Lesley University 2008-2017. She has conducted scientific researchstudies in Europe and in the U.S. Since 1984 she has led professionaldevelopment sessions, lectures and workshops for educators in theU.S.A., Canada, Mexico, and Japan. Her numerous books for youngchildren and parents were first dedicated to educators in Italy. In theUnited States, she published or co-edited several books including:The Hundred Languages of Children: The Reggio Emilia Approach toEarly Childhood Education, In the Spirit of the Studio: Learning fromthe Atelier of Reggio Emilia, Bambini: The Italian Approach to Infant/Toddler Care, and has co-produced videos, articles, and interview onthe Reggio Emilia Approach. ACSI’smission is to strengthen schools by offering a wide variety of programs.As an organization, ACSI provides services to schools, professionaldevelopment, events and networking opportunities, legal legislativeand advocacy and publications and newsletters. ACSI also offers anaccreditation program that is recognized by the state of Indiana forsecondary, elementary, and for both standalone and attached preschoolprograms. This accreditation provides a way for Christian schools andprograms to evaluate themselves in light of their unique educationalmissions.Dr. Milt UeckerColumbia International UniversityDr. Milt Uecker currently serves as the Director ofthe Lowrie Center for Christian School Educationat Columbia International University. He hasworked within elementary schools and teachereducation for over 40 years. Prior to joining the faculty of CIU in 1995,Dr. Uecker served 4 years as associate professor at Regent Universityin Virginia Beach where he directed the early childhood program. Hisprofessional experience includes teaching within an InternationalSchool in Seoul, Korea and administrating early childhood programsin both Texas and Virginia. He received a Bachelor of Science inelementary education (1969) from Concordia University, Chicago, aMaster’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University ofTexas (1975) and a Doctorate in Curriculum & Instruction with emphasisin early childhood from the University of Virginia (1989). Dr. Uecker’sprofessional interests include, early childhood instruction, activitycentered mathematics, and reaching vulnerable and culturally diverselearners.As an early childhood and Christian school consultant, his speakingministry reaches both teachers and parents throughout the U.S.,Europe and Latin America. Prior to joiningACSI, Sara Jo volunteered with the association for 12 years.
