In addition to hay, the H-1100 Tilt BIG BITETub Grinder can grind most crop residues. The toughest part of the job is loading the hay into the tub.Equip the H-1100 Tilt Tub Grinder with the optional grain grinding hopper and it will grind all feed grains.Here, barley is being ground to become oneof the key ingredients in a “total mix ration”for dairy cows.This corn was cracked by a BIG BITETub Grinder. 22111) The tub drive hydraulicpump is directly coupled to thehammermill shaft to eliminateextra pulleys, belts andtighteners.Power from the tractor istransmitted at 1000 RPM to theH-1100 Tilt through a PTOshaft.2) A tough 8-belt drive systemmultiplies the PTO RPM byapproximately two times andsupplies it to the hammermillshaft. The higher hammermillspeed provides for a more evenand smoother feed rate plusincreases the grinding capacity.The step seal clean-out passageworks to eliminate any materialbuildup between the tub wall andthe step seal. Material that finds itsway between the step seal and thetub wall is ejected onto theconveyor.The H-1100 Tilt hammermillhas a “BIG BITE.” At operatingRPM, the hammers extend outto make a hammermill diameterof 26”, combine this with 50” oflength and it forms a great “BIGBITE.”1) 88 swinging hammers arearranged on 8 heavy-duty casehardened rods. The hammershave four hardened grindingsurfaces. As these surfaces areworn, they can be replaced bysimply turning the hammer tothe next fresh grinding surface.Here is the secret to even andsmooth feeding to thehammermill.the DuraTechelectronic governor. Thisgovernor maintains a constantload on the tractor’s PTOsystem by adjusting the tub’sRPM which controls the feedrate of the material into thehammermill.1) The heavy duty “slug buster”enhances the hammers cuttingaction and acts as a mechanicalregulator for the material flowinto the hammermill.2) A metal “step seal” replacesthe older belting type seals of thepast. It’s welded to the floor andforms a flat ring under the entiretub wall. This innovative sealdiscourages pre-ground materialfrom being forced and caughtunder the tub wall.The shields for the pressure andtub rollers not only are stylish butdeflect the routine loading spillageoff the rollers. The shields are raised1-1/2” off the floor to provide anexit for any spillage that may haveworked its way behind the shields.

121) “Smooth edge design” meansthe tub rollers have sealed bearings,a less exposed rotating shaft and allthe edges have been rounded toresist twine buildup.2) The pressure rollers haveserviceable tapered roller bearingsthat are fully sealed.What’s in a tub?1) A 12 gauge wall thicknessgives it the rigidity and strengthto grind away year after year.2) The loading height has beendecreased by 5” from theprevious model.“Easy clean” rollers are used with the belly andthe discharge conveyors. The Haybuster “easyclean” roller design discourages material buildupwhile encouraging self cleaning throughcentrifugal force. Clean rollers maintain accuratebelt tracking and good belt traction.The belly and the dischargeconveyor chain drives have springloaded tensioners. Thesetensioners reduce routinemaintenance and improve theservice accessibility.The H-1100 Tilt walking beamtandem axles are set further to the rear of theframe. This increases the hitch weight whichimproves stability when the discharge conveyor isunfolded or when folded during road transport.1) The high capacitydischarge conveyor is 22’long and has a 18” widerubber belt with 1-1/2” cleats.2) The discharge conveyorposition is moved and heldwith steel strap linkages and ahydraulic cylinder that ispowered from the tractor’shydraulic system.3) The operator simply movesthe control valve’s lever toraise, hold or lower thedischargeconveyor.
