How to print on acrylic boardsHow to prepare the substrateWhat do we need?BeforeprintingHow to prepare the substrate1. Ensure panel flatnessAcrylic boards tend to absorb some moisture and lose their flatness. Ensure theboard is flat before printing.NOTE: If the panel is deformed there is a risk of printhead crash. The use of edgeholders may be necessary when printing on waved substrates.2. Substrate handlingHandle samples with care! Gloves are recommended to prevent accidental cutsand also to avoid leaving fingerprints on the surface. Marks and scratches createdprior to printing will be visible when the job is printed. How to prepare the job3. CuttingPrintingThe printing processCut the sample to the desired size using a suitable device (e.g., table saw, cuttingtable).NOTE: This process can also be done after the job is printed. There is no ink chippingalong the cut edge.Afterprinting3After printing, what next?TIP: Thin boards (1 mm) can also be cut using a ruler or carpenter’s square and acutter. Remove the linerIf the substrate has a protective film, peel it off from one side, leaving the otherside protected until finishing or installation of the finished graphic. Avoid touchingthe print surface with unprotected hands. Fingerprints may become visible afterprinting.5. CleaningAfter the protective film has been removed, dust particles may tend to adhere tothe print surface.Remove dust particles by wiping the surface with an anti-static cloth.TIP: If an anti-static cloth is not available, use a 70% Isopropyl Alcohol / 30% watersolution with a lint-free cloth and wipe the print surface. Let it dry before printing.6. Substrate considerations4PrintingThe printing processAfterprintingAfter printing, what next?If extra durability or ink adhesion is required, an alternative acrylic with digitalsurface treatment can be used: Plaskolite Optix DA is an enhanced acrylic fordigital printing. Polycarbonates may also be an alternative to acrylic substratesfor most applications, especially if laser cutting is not required. Copyright 2020 HP Development Company, L.P. If extradurability is required, a primer can be applied prior toprinting. This process is optional and may greatlydepend on the substrate being used. Primerapplication is described in the following generalinstructions. What do we need?OptionalBeforeprintingOptionalTIP: HP recommends application ofprimer to the whole surface in order toavoid visual differences. Manualapplication is recommended for smallor medium size panels (A3/A2 sizes).OptionalHow to pr

60 C, the epoxy emulsion was fed into the reac-tor containing the acrylic latex and held for 1 hr to allow the epoxy to transport and swell the acrylic latex. The key requirement was that the epoxy was completely imbibed in the acrylic particles. The driving force for this transport process is the solubility of the epoxy molecule in the latex
