Her researchexperience includes work with the research team of the Lexicon of MediaevalLanguage (1100-1669) by Emmanuel Kriaras (1984-1985), in the InstitutNational des Langues et Ciνilisations Orientales (Fonds Thomas WhittemoreInstitut Byzantin, 1991-1992), in the Institute of Mediterranean Studies (19921995), and in the Dumbarton Oaks Center for Byzantine Studies (HarvardUniversity), Washington, D.C., USA (1996-1997). She has taught in theDepartments of History and Archaeology of the University of Crete (19931996), of Philology of the University of Patras (2005-2006), of History andArchaeology of the School of Philosophy of the University of Thessaloniki(2005-2006) and of History of the Ionian University in Corfu (2007-2011). Shehas been a member of the scholarly associations Byzantine StudiesConference - USA and Canada (1997-2002) and of the Canadian Committee ofByzantinists (1998-2002). She is also a member of the Greek Historical Society(1993- ), of the Greek Committee of Byzantine Studies (2004- ) and of theResearch Society of the Relations of the Medieval and Modern Hellenism withthe West (2012- ). She has participated in scholarly conferences, and she haslectured in Greece, USA and Canada.SCOLARLY INTERESTSThe later Byzantine period (11th-15th c.) with emphasis on the history ofeducation; the institutions of learning; the circle of intellectuals; the Byzantinediplomacy with the West; the expressions of social divergence and deviation;the place of the saint in Byzantine society; piracy and slave trade.PUBLICATIONSBOOKS1.
