Virtual Learning RemindersAs we prepare to return to the virtual learningmodel, here are some reminders about our expectations forvirtual classrooms that set everyone up for success!1. Set your full name as your Zoom username! To helpteachers make sure that all students joining a Zoom classmeeting are in the right place, students need to make surethat they are joining with their first and last name as theirZoom username. Students who do not have their full, accurate name displaying may not be admitted to class.North Central High SchoolVirtual Open HouseDid you miss out on this event last week? It's nottoo late to learn all about North Central!Click here to visit the NCHS Virtual Open HouseSite. 8th grade students can learn more aboutcourse options for next year as well as honors, IB,and AP programs. Find pre-recorded messagesfrom department chairs and information aboutscheduling a guided building tour.2. Be patient in the waiting room! Teachers will admitstudents to Zoom meetings at the start of each class periodand as quickly as they can throughout the period. If studentsleave and rejoin a meeting or arrive late, they may need towait for a bit before the teacher is able to admit them toclass. Your patience and understanding is appreciated!3. Cameras on, microphones off! It is expected that allstudents leave their cameras on throughout the class periodunless otherwise directed. This helps teachers make surethat students are focused and engaged and also helps build avirtual sense of community. Students are welcome to utilizevirtual backgrounds if it makes them feel more comfortablehaving their cameras on. Additionally, to ensure adistraction-free learning environment, all students shouldplan to remain muted unless otherwise directed.4. Stay engaged! Students should arrive to class on timeeach day. They should make sure that they are not justwatching lessons but are also actively participating in classactivities and completing in-class assignments. Effectivelyutilizing class time will help students stay on top of theirwork and avoid buildup of late assignments.5. Contribute to a positive learning environment! Studentsshould be active participants in class and be responsible andrespectful in all of their classroom interactions. It isimportant to remember that all Zoom meetings are recorded,so if students make poor choices with their behavior, therewill be disciplinary consequences.6. Take advantage of student supports and opportunitiesto get help! Virtual learning can be difficult. But fortunately,we have opportunities built into our schedule here atNorthview for students to meet with teachers to get help onassignments, to ask questions, and to receive small groupinstruction and tutoring. Remember that the return tovirtual learning means the return of Falcon Time StudentSupport. Each Wednesday morning, all teachers will beavailable on Zoom from 8:00 - 9:00 am to assist students inany way they need. Make sure to attend office hours andFalcon Time if you need help!Canvas Parent AccessParents, are you looking for a better way to keep tabs onyour student's assignments, grades, and coursecommunication?
