Thistle makes it so much easierPreparation and mixingAA good job needs soundpreparation. Begin by brushingdown the surface to be plasteredto remove any dust and loosematerial. Next, to ensure goodadhesion, dampen the surfacejust before plastering.BMixing must only be carried outusing a clean bucket and tools.Sprinkle plaster into clean coldwater and mix until thick andcreamy.Skimming onto plasterboard12Use Gyproc Corner Tape toreinforce external corners. Applyplaster along both sides of thecorner and bed the tape firmlyinto the plaster. For flat joints betweenplasterboards reinforce withThistle ProTape. This self-adhesivefibre tape can be applied with nopre-filling.For internal corners, again applyplaster to both sides of thecorner, then taking Gyproc JointTape, crease down the centre foldand bed the tape firmly into theplaster.Alternatively Gyproc Joint Tapecan be firmly bedded into plasteron flat joints.3Apply Thistle Finishing Plasterto a thickness of 1mm over theplasterboard and all the tapedjoints, then immediately add asecond coat to give an overallthickness of 2mm.4Once the Finishing Plaster startsto harden, dampen lightly withclean water and polish over witha trowel for a smooth flat finish.

Thistle makes it so much easierTwo-coat plastering1Use Angle Bead for a professionalfinish on external corners, usingdabs of plaster to fix in place andensuring the bead is verticallyplumb before allowing to dry.3Level the plaster with a straightedge, working from bottom totop then side to side, filling andre-levelling any hollows thatappear.Prior to setting, ensure thesurface is adequately scored toprovide a ‘key’ to help adhesion ofthe finishing plaster.5Once the Finishing Plaster startsto harden, dampen lightly withclean water and polish over witha trowel for a smooth flat finish.2Apply Thistle Undercoat Plasterto a thickness of approx. 11mmon masonry and between 5-8mmon plasterboards, using a firmupward stroke.4After 2-3 hours, when theundercoat plaster is set but notdry, apply Thistle Finishing Plasterto a thickness of 1mm.Immediately after add a secondcoat to a total thickness of 2mm.Plastering note:Although the stepsabove show howto plaster newwalls, other jobssuch as patchingand repairs canbe achieved usingsome or all of thesame techniques
