D) Installation after short term storage:At least 48 hours before starting theinstallation lay out all tiles or planks on thesub-surface to allow them to acclimate.During acclimation the tiles/planks should beplaced throughout the installation area insmall piles of two or less. A tile or plank laidin the morning hours at 32 F (0 C) would bea different size than a tile or plank laid at68 F (20 C) later in the day. Installationshould only occur when the sub-surfacetemperature is between 18 C (65 F) and23 C (72 F). Exposure to direct sunlight willcause temperature fluctuations; blinds mustbe used to minimize those temperaturefluctuations. Acclimation is complete whenthe products have reached a consistentdimension after a period of 24 hours. Onceacclimated, the thickness of the productshould match the measurements that are inthe Weights and Measurements chart at theback of these guidelines. Short term storageshould be considered as two weeks or less.SECTION IMATERIAL STORAGE & HANDLINGGeneral packaging informationAll Dinoflex products are packaged onwooden pallets, covered with a plastic hood, and secured by steel strapping with edgeprotectors. On Receipt of Merchandise:A) The product in front of you has gonethrough several quality assurance checks. However, we recommend that you doublecheck that your order is correct, that nodamage occurred during transport, and forany other possible shortcomings. For your own protection, ensure thatdefective product is identified prior to thestart of the installation. Please note that we are not responsible forany installation costs that occur as a resultof defective product being installed.B) If adhesives were exposed to freezingtemperatures, place indoors and bring toroom temperature before using. Read SafetyData sheets and MSDS sheets for adhesive.Check adhesive cans for damage that mayhave occurred during transit.E) Installation after prolonged storage:Before placing any Dinoflex product inprolonged storage remove the palletstrapping, but leave the other packaging onuntil acclimation begins. During prolongedstorage, the tiles and/or planks in the lowerportion of the stack will compress to agreater degree than those in the upperportion. This will show as thicknessvariations in the products taken from the topof the pallet as compared to those on thebottom. Product dimensions (length andwidth) may also be affected. A longeracclimation time will be required for productthat has had a longer storage time. Exactlyhow long is difficult to predict but it can takeup to 72 hours. Installation should only occurwhen the sub-surface temperature isbetween 18 C (65 F) and 23 C (72 F).Exposure to direct sunlight will causetemperature fluctuations; blinds must beused to minimize those temperaturefluctuations. Do not install the tiles orplanks if they are not square or theappropriate thickness. The product shouldbe taken off the pallet and distributedthroughout the installation area in small pilesDinoflex DinoGrip has a 12 monthshelf life. Chemrex CX-941 has a9 month shelf life. If shipmenthas been stored for an extendedtime and if the adhesive is notused within 6-months ofreceiving, please check withDinoflex to ensure it is within theacceptable shelf life of theproduct.C) Storage: Store tiles or planks in a dryand clean area. Temperature and humiditychanges will cause the rubber backing toexpand or contract. During storage the NextStep LVT tiles/planks must be kept dry andthe adhesive must be stored at 50 F (10 C)in a dry heated space.#10000LVIG Dinoflex Group Limited Partnership-3-Rev: 2015-10-21Rep: 2015-09-24

consisting of two or less. Acclimation iscomplete when the product has reached aconsistent dimension for a period of 24hours. Once acclimated, the thickness of theproduct should match the measurementsthat are in the Weights and Measurementschart at the back of these guidelines. If thematerial is installed in any condition otherthan specified Dinoflex is not responsible.Prolonged storage should be considered astwo weeks or longer.specific guidelines for Next Step WalkSoft LVT Flooring.Dinoflex recommended adhesives:1) Dinoflex DinoGrip (V.O.C. compliant) One component, water free, polyurethaneadhesive. 4 gallon pail: 55 lbs (25 kg) Approximate coverage: 300 sq.ft. (29.7 m²)per pail2) Chemrex Urethane 941 (V.O.C. compliant) One component polyurethane adhesive 2 gallon pail: 26 lbs (12 kg) Approximate coverage: 150 sq.ft. Protect tiles and/orplanks from dust and dirt. Install only after allother trades are completed.G) Keep Dinoflex Next Step Walk Soft LVTFlooring dry. Moisture will cause adhesionproblems.H) Petroleum distillates (e.g. solvents) aswell as liquid animal fats may cause thesurface bonding to fail. Test results for otherharmful chemicals and compounds areavailable on request.SECTION IITOOLS & ACCESSORIESIt is not uncommon for a moisture curedurethane product, such as Dinoflex DinoGripor Chemrex CX941, to develop a slight skinon the top surface of the product. The slightskinning can be the result of product gettingolder, or in the case of newer product, perhaps a poor seal in the lid. Regardless, the product is still good; simply trim the skinand discard. In the case of older product, athicker skin may have developed, and theviscosity of the overall product may havethickened, also making the application a bitmore difficult, but in most cases will stillperform.A) Tools and safety equipment required: Dinoflex Installation Guidelines Safety glasses Heavy duty utility knife - Suggestedproduct: CH Hanson Speed Rocker SS,3 position, fixed blade knife Measuring tape Transit level and Straight edge Caulking gun, if needed to adherereducer strip Chalk snap-line Drill and mixer for adhesive V-notched trowel 1/16” (1.6 mm) Carpenter’s square Rubber boots & glovesFor detailed information and product use, refer to Dinoflex DinoGrip product Datasheet or BASF Product Data Guide, included with adhesive. Note: DinoGriphas a 12 month shelf life and CX 941 hasa 9 month shelf life.C) AdhesiveIMPORTANT: If adhesive other than theproducts noted below is used, theseinstallation guidelines may not apply.Contact adhesive manufacturer for#10000LVIG Dinoflex Group Limited Partnership-4-Rev: 2015-10-21Rep: 2015-09-24

installation. If the subsurface has beenpreviously sealed or finished the surfacemust be stripped to ensure an adequatebond.SECTION IIIBEFORE STARTING THE INSTALLATIONEnsure all other trades are completed workprior to installing Dinoflex Next Step WalkSoft LVT Flooring. In cases where othertrades may access the installation area, theuse of parchment paper should be used toprotect the Next Step Walk Soft LVTFlooring from damage and debris.Dinoflex is not responsible for any productfailure if proper floor preparation and/orinstallation procedures are not followed.A) Concrete sub-surfacesNew concrete sub-surfaces must bethoroughly cured and free from hydrostaticpressure before rubber tiles are installed (aminimum of 30 days after pour). Consultadhesive specifications for allowablemoisture tolerance. The sub-surface must be smooth and levelto a tolerance not exceeding 1/8” in 10 linealfeet. If existing concrete is too rough, ordoes not meet the above criteria, apply aPortland cement based leveling compoundto smooth and level the surface. Follow allleveling compound manufacturers’instructions. It is vital that a moisture and alkalinitytest be completed prior to floorinstallation, and that sub-surfaces arecured and dry to acceptable levels.Concrete substrates should not exceed65 percent RH and/or 3 lbs. x 24 hrs x1000 sf. Moisture vapor emissions ratetested in accordance to ASTM F 2170 andASTM F 1869. Moisture is the singlemost significant factor that causesbonding failure to the sub-surface.A) Temperature: Flooring, substrate & roomtemperature should be between 18 C (65 F)and 23 C (72 F). Maintain propertemperature for 48 hours before and afterinstallation. After that, maintain a minimum55 F (13 C) degree temperature. Exposureto direct sunlight will cause temperaturefluctuations; blinds must be used tominimize those temperature fluctuations. The building’s heating and air-conditioningsystem should be turned on at least oneweek before installation. Failure to followthese guidelines may result in an installationfailure (i.e. flooring may expand or contractresulting in gapping or buckling).B) HVAC: Air conditioning is recommendedwhenever possible and at comfortable levelsas moisture is removed constantly and thiswill provide for a drier atmosphere thataffects the adhesion to the subfloorfavorably. However in hot and humidclimates the air conditioning can causecondensation in the floors so that thesubfloor must have a moisture barrierbeneath the slab or in the crawl space. For detailed information and product use, refer to the Technical Product DataSheet, included with adhesive.B) Wooden sub-surfaces New plywood should be acclimatized fora 48-hour period prior to installation ofthe rubber flooring. CDX exterior smooth one side suggestedfor new wood substrates. Secure all nails to prevent futureprotrusion. Any cracks, holes, and rough or unevenareas should be patched with goodquality cement based levelingcompound. Wood sub-surface must be a minimum of1” thickness, and free from any flexmovement. It is vital that a moisture and alkalinitytest be completed and records keptprior to installation, and that subsurfaces are cured and dry toSECTION IVPREPARATION OF THE SUB-SURFACEThe sub-surface must be level, clean, anddry. Remove all old adhesive. A rough oruneven sub-surface will result in an uneven#10000LVIG Dinoflex Group Limited Partnership-5-Rev: 2015-10-21Rep: 2015-09-24

acceptable levels. Moisture is the singlemost significant factor that causesbonding failure to the sub-surface.Warranty is not applicable if specifiedmoisture ranges are not adhered to.and not with Dinoflex Group LP. Installfollowing standard methods of measuringand lying out and cutting vinyl flooring.Leave an expansion gap of at least 1/4 inchagainst the wall that is covered by moulding.Do not align end joints next to each otherand make sure to have all arrows on theunderside of the plank or tile in the samedirection for install as shade variation mayoccur. In order to rectify shade variation, rotate the tile/plank 90 degrees or installit in a less visible area. If any heightvariation ( 0.5 mm) or minor damage isnoticed in certain tiles then place thosetiles against a wall, in a less visible area,or in an area that will require perimetercutting.Locate the midpoint of the room, and chalk astart line down the centre. Chalk anothersimilar start line 90 degrees to the first one.Begin mat installation from the point wherethe two chalk lines intersect. Work outwardsin both directions.(See figure 1).SECTION VINSTALLATION OF LVT SQUARE CUTTILES OR PLANKSImportant: See Section I, (D) and (E)regarding acclimation of tiles.Visually inspect all tiles or planks forvisible defects. Ensure that defectiveproduct is identified prior to the start ofthe installation, set these aside andnotify dealer immediately withinformation of any defects found.Glue down installation is required for allsquare edge tiles or planks.1. ARRANGING THE TILESFor best results, the room temperature in thearea of installation must be between 18 C(65 F) and 23 C (72 F) for at least 48 hoursbefore, during, and after installation.Flooring must be acclimated in the roomthey are to be installed in for a minimum of48 hours prior to installation. During theacclimation process the product should bedistributed throughout the installation area insmall piles consisting of two or less.Acclimation is complete when the producthas reached a consistent dimension for aperiod of 24 hours. Be sure to mix tilesand/or planks from several different palletsto blend minor shade variations. If the NextStep Walk Soft LVT Flooring tile or plankhas directional stickers on the back thenthese stickers will always be placed in thesame corner. Be sure to maintain the samedirectional placement during the installation. If not, lay the tile and/or planks keeping theembossing of the product flowing in thesame direction. Note: All Warranties andguarantees regarding the suitability andperformance of any products, if not suppliedby Dinoflex, rests with the materialmanufacturer or the installation contractor#10000LVIG Dinoflex Group Limited PartnershipStart second row on either side of the centerline towards the chalk line. Make sure thatsecond row is installed by staggering thetiles. This will avoid any four corners frommeeting at one spot (See figure 2).Figure 2-6-Rev: 2015-10-21Rep: 2015-09-24

Use safety glasses, rubber boots, andrubber gloves when applying adhesive.Room must be well ventilated. For first aid and safety instructions seelabels on can, Safety Data sheets, andMSDS.B) Applying AdhesiveDO NOT GET ADHESIVE ON THE TOPSURFACE OF THE NEXT STEP LVTFLOORING AS IT IS VIRTUALLYIMPOSSIBLE TO REMOVE. Dinoflexdoes not warranty product where anattempt to remove adhesive has beenmade. Contact your Dinoflex supplierimmediately if this happens.2. MEASURING & CUTTINGLay tile or plank on a flat surface, hold themetal straight edge on the cut line, and cutwith sharp utility knife on a diagonal or usinga back cut procedure. (See figure below)All substrates must be structurally sound, smooth, clean, dry, and free from dust, loosematerial, grease, oil, wax, sealers, curingagents, and other foreign materials. Applyadhesive with 1/16” (1.6 mm) V-notchtrowel, (available from Dinoflex) Using alarger trowel will result in excess adhesivecoming up between seams.Change or snap off blades frequently toensure clean cuts. For odd angles, circularpatterns, etc. a cardboard template issuggested. Join water cut edges together.Hand cut edges should be used againstwalls wherever possible.Make sure that you measure carefully sothat the tile or plank will fit properly and doesnot leave gaps, resulting in the installationbeing out of alignment.Wear gloves at all times when applyingadhesive. Do not allow adhesive to cureon your hands.3. ADHESIVEIMPORTANT: If adhesive other thanDinoflex recommended adhesive is used, these installation guidelines may notapply. Contact adhesive manufacturer forspecific guidelines for Next Step WalkSoft LVT Flooring.Put the tile that you are installing on top ofthe tile already glued down and pull towardsthe area you want to fill until the tile falls intoplace, then firmly press tile up to edge ofexisting tile. This will keep excess adhesivefrom protruding between the seams(See figure 3 below).A) General Please read Dinoflex DinoGrip SafetyData sheet supplied for the adhesivethoroughly before starting with theinstallation. Moisture is the single greatest cause ofbonding failure. Ensure levels are at orbelow those accepted by adhesivemanufacturer. Higher temperatures and humidity willcause the adhesive to cure faster.#10000LVIG Dinoflex Group Limited PartnershipWhen applying adhesive, glue must bespread evenly on the sub-surface to avoiddifferences in tile/plank height. Allow 72hours setting time before the post installcleaning. Avoid heavy traffic or rolling loads-7-Rev: 2015-10-21Rep: 2015-09-24

non-staining casters at least 2” in diameter.Remove small diameter buttons from thelegs of straight chairs and replace with metalglides that have bearing surfaces not lessthan 1” in diameter. Protect your flooragainst burns. Burns from the glowing endof a cigarette, matches, or other extremelyhot items can damage the flooring. Do notflood floor, subject to frequent standingwater, or use in high moisture areas.during curing to prevent indentation ormovement of tiles or planks.C) RollingRoll each row as completed or within 25minutes. Roll the entire floor when project iscompleted. Work in both directions. Notethat adhesive is slippery when first spreadand tiles/planks will shift position even if onlydisturbed slightly. No foot traffic of any kind should be allowedfor the next 48 hours. Allow 72 hours formaximum strength.A 100 pound roller should be used to ensurethe underside tile surface is fully bonded tothe glue and sub-floor. Too much rollingcould cause the tiles to buckle and adhesiveto move upwards through the seams.SECTION VICLEANING & MAINTENANCEA) MaintenanceThe type or frequency of traffic on your tileor plank will determine the frequency ofmaintenance needed. The color of the floorwill have some bearing on how much caremay be necessary. Regular adherence to aneffective maintenance program shouldinclude: thorough dirt and grit regulation, prompt removal of spills and stains, andprotection of the floor surface. The mosteffective part of any floor maintenanceprogram is the simplest: sweep, dust mop orvacuum DAILY, or more frequently ifneeded.D) Clean Up AdhesiveDo not allow excessive adhesive to come incontact with top surface of Next Step WalkSoft LVT Flooring as it can be difficult toremove. Contact your Dinoflex supplierimmediately for suggested cleaning methodsif this happens. Any damage to the tiles asa result of adhesive removal is the solethe responsibility of the installer.Follow adhesive manufacturer’s instructionsfor cleanup of tools.B) General Maintenance / CommercialMaintenanceDinoflex Next Step Walk Soft LVT tiles andplanks will perform commercially provided asound maintenance program is followed.Light daily sweeping, dust mopping orvacuuming will prevent dirt and grit particlesfrom being ground into the surface of thetile. Non-rubber, non-staining walk off matsshould be used to control the amount of dirtand grit reaching the floor. The mats shouldbe as wide as the doorway and thick enoughto trap dirt and should be cleaned on aregular basis. Frequent light mopping willprevent the floor from becoming heavilysoiled and will remove most spills andstains. The amount and type of traffic willdictate the frequency of washing. Wash thefloor by damp mopping with a vinyl neutralcleaner diluted with warm water. If the floorreceives hard use and becomes extremelyE) Post Construction Cleaning:Sweep or vacuum thoroughly and removeany adhesive residue from surface. MineralSpirits can be used. Do not wash floor for atleast 72 hours after installation. Lightly dampmop with a very diluted solution of vinylcleaner. Remove any scuffs and excessivesoil by careful scrubbing. Certain types ofrubber heel marks may be removed byrubbing with a cloth dampened with a vinylblack scuff/adhesive remover. All traffic andfurniture should stay off the floor for at least48 hours to allow the adhesive to dry. Do notwash any installation for 72 hours. In orderto prevent indentations and scratches, provide glass, plastic or other non-stainingcups with flat under surfaces not less than 2”in width for the legs of heavy furniture orappliance. Equip swiveled-type office chairsand other rolling furniture with broad surface#10000LVIG Dinoflex Group Limited Partnership-8-Rev: 2015-10-21Rep: 2015-09-24

dirty, as in heavily commercial installations,an occasional scrubbing may be necessary. This can be accomplished by using a lowspeed buffer 300 rpm or less with a redscrubbing–type (polyester or nylon) pad.Spray the floor with diluted neutral cleanerand work the solution over the floor usingthe buffer and the scrubbing pad. Once thisis accomplished, remove the dirty residue bydamp mopping with clear water or with a wetvacuum.C) Stain RemovalTo remove stubborn spots or stains from thetiles/planks, always begin with mild cleaners, such as vinyl neutral cleaner. If this fails toremove stain, use Mineral Spirits. Do notuse harsh solvents, such as Acetone orlacquer thinner. These types of products canpermanently soften and damage thesurface. For extreme staining, (paints, permanent markers, dyes) try applyingfingernail polish remover containing Acetone(not straight Acetone) applied to a soft clothand rubbing. Any damage resulting from useof pure solvents IS NOT covered by thewarranty. Always test stronger cleaningagents on sample pieces or in unnoticeableareas first before attempting on affectedareas.D) Scuffing and Scratching:Although Next Step Walk Soft LVTtiles/planks are resistant to scuffing andscratching, surface damage can occur withhard enough use, or if floor is improperlymaintained. If damage occurs, try handbuffing the spot with 0000 steel wool, usinga solution of mineral spirits.#10000LVIG Dinoflex Group Limited Partnership-9-Rev: 2015-10-21Rep: 2015-09-24
