This glass canbreak if the device is droppedon a hard surface or receives asubstantial impact. If the glassbreaks, do not touch the glassparts of the device or attemptto remove the broken glassfrom the device. Touch screenTo control your device, lightly touch thescreen with your fingertips. The screendoes not respond when you use yourfingernails.If your fingertips are cold, the screen maynot respond to your touch.Follow the instructions carefully, to avoiddamaging the back cover.Safe removal. Always switch the device offand disconnect the charger beforeremoving the battery.1Unlock the back cover release latch,and lift the back cover.2If the battery is inserted, lift thebattery out.3Insert a SIM card. Use the diagramprinted on the device to correctlyalign the card.Line up the contacts of the battery andthe battery compartment, and insertthe battery.To avoid scratching the touch screen,never use a pen, pencil, or other sharpobject to write on the touch screen.Noise cancellationIf you are calling from a noisyenvironment, your device filters outbackground noise to make your voicesound clearer to the person at the otherend of the line.Noise cancellation is not available whenusing the loudspeaker or a headset.For the best noise cancellation, hold thedevice with the earpiece to your ear andthe main microphone towards yourmouth. Do not cover the secondarymicrophone at the back of the device.Insert the SIM card and batteryImportant: Do not use a micro-SIM or amicro-SIM with an adapter in this device.This device does not support use of microSIM cards, and use of incompatible SIMcards may damage the card or the device,and may corrupt data stored on the card. 2010 Nokia. Insert or remove a memory cardUse only compatible MicroSD cardsapproved by Nokia for use with thisdevice. Nokia uses approved industrystandards for memory cards, but somebrands may not be fully compatible withthis device. Incompatible cards maydamage the card and the device andcorrupt data stored on the card.Keep all memory cards out of the reach ofsmall children.Switch off the device before inserting amemory card.Insert a memory card1 Remove the back cover of the device.3Insert a compatible memory card intothe slot. Make sure the contact area ofthe card is facing down.45Push the card in, until it clicks.Replace the battery and the backcover. Make sure the cover is properlyclosed.Remove a memory card1 Switch the device off.2 Remove the back cover of the device.3 If the battery is inserted, lift thebattery out.4 Push the card in, until you hear a click.5 Pull the card out.ChargingCharge the batteryYour battery has been partially charged atthe factory, but you may need to rechargeit before you can switch on your device forthe first time.If the device indicates a low charge, do thefollowing:2If the battery is inserted, lift thebattery out.18 2010 Nokia. 2You do not need to charge the battery fora specific length of time, and you can usethe device while it is charging.If the battery is completely discharged, itmay take several minutes before thecharging indicator appears on the displayor before any calls can be made.Tip: You can also use a compatible USBcharger to charge your battery.If connected to a computer, you cansynchronize your device while charging.Charging over USB can take longer to start,and may not work if you connect througha non-powered USB hub. Your devicecharges more quickly when connected toa wall outlet.When the battery is charging, thecharging indicator light next to the USBconnector is lit. When the battery chargeis low, the charging indicator light flashes.It may take a while for charging to start.Charge the battery over USBBattery low, but you don't have a chargerwith you?
