Soundarya Central SchoolThe Soaring FalconCreative Corner.Children - the wonder beings .- Mrs. RajeshwariChildren are around 2-1/2 years old when they step out of their warm and cozy homes intothe outside world for a few hours before they go back to the same familiar environmentcalled home. A relatable experience would be when the child comes out of the mother’swomb and starts crying because the child has to adapt to the world around her/him.Similarly, after the settling period as we call it, the child accepts the new place, feelscomfortable and somewhat trusts people around enough to let go of the parents. Eachchild is unique and handles this separation in different ways. As a teacher, I have alwaysloved to help children settle, they take time to feel safe and loved before they attendschool without sobbing. Some children would take close to 2 months to settle down andstart working; patience and trust is all that works. Some of my children have struggled toget over their past bad experiences where their weeping was not dealt in a compassionateway and had left them scarred, they feared the word “school” and they would need extracare and love to trust and feel safe again, at times testing our limits of patience by cryingand tantrums. If the teacher can continue to love the child during those difficult moments, the battle is won and the child feels safe. It is also important for parents to be strongbecause very often it is the parent who is not ready to let go of the child.Oftentimes, parents use threats like “I will go away if you don’t eat .; ” “if you don
