FAQ and tipsHow long does a scavenger hunt last?Normally, it lasts between 30 and 60 minutes. How many kids can play one scavenger hunt?Depending on the number of kids, we recommend playing the game in groups. Up to 7 kids can play in onescavenger hunt. For more than 7 kids, it’s best to play in 2 groups with one adult each. Print all the riddles asecond time and select different hiding places for the riddles and for a second treasure as well. What do I put in the treasure chest? In our experience, that kids love the treasure no matter what it is. Normally the treasure consists of sweetsor little presents. If you’d like it to be healthier, you can also put pre-cut fresh fruit in the treasure chestHow do I make a treasure chest?Be creative! Within some minutes a shoe box is converted into an amazing treasure chest using some paper, paint or stickers. If you have less time, you can also hide the chest in a drawer or a linen chest, which youhave emptied before.Where can the scavenger hunt be played? The game can be played both, inside and outside.Tip: Try to include the slower kids in the scavenger hunt, so all kids have fun and enjoy the game. When the treasure chest is found, please make sure, that the kids share it equally.Play the scavenger hunt directly after the kids arrive, so they can concentrate better on the riddles.

The hiding placesYou can either tell the kids the hiding places (e.g. you say “ the next riddle ishidden at the fence or “now go 30 steps to the east”) or you describe the nextlace as a riddle. If you have hidden the next riddle under a big green couch, youcan say “The next riddle you will find under a big green object.” Alternatively, youcan describe the place in words. Here are some suggestions:Hiding placeDescriptionUnder thekeyboardWindowOn me, you will find every letter ofthe alphabet once.I am transparent.HidingplaceTreeFridgeDescriptionI live in the forest and grow hightowards the sun.Inside of me, there is always winter.More ideas of hiding places can befound in the original file.

Team gamesDuring the scavenger hunt, exciting team games will be played by the kids. Theyare big fun and support the cooperation among the children. The team games arealways played after a riddle is solved and before the next hiding place is revealed. If you have limited time, you can easily leave out the team games. Our suggestions–Please select 3 games. The sinking shipTake a carpet or a big tarp. This is the pirate’s ship, around there is water. All kids must be on the tarp andare not allowed to fall down in the water for 5 seconds. If this is achieved, fold the tarp in the middle andmake it smaller. Now, the kids have to be on the tarp for another 5 seconds. Keep on folding the tarp againand again and encourage the kids to support each other. The pirate shipThe kids sit in a row behind each other on the floor and hold on to each other. Then, the kids have to movetogether like a team by sliding over the ground (without standing up). The kids have to reach a finish line, without losing contact with each other. You can play the game again and stop the time to make the gameharder.Three more team games can be foundin the original file.
