Mary Beth Rhomberg, ODChair, MOA Clinical / Education CommitteeCarl Bassi, PhD, develops novel approaches toevaluate the visual system in order to improvedisease diagnosis, assessment of progression,and treatment. Bassi’s lab interests include:developing new devices for the assessment ofcolor vision, visual suppression, and photophobia;evaluating the effects of a macular pigment,zeaxanthin, on visual function; evaluating colorvision in applied settings; and electrophysiologicalas well as psychophysical techniques to assessstructure-function relationships in patients withdementia, glaucoma, macular degenerationand other retinal abnormalities.Marc Bloomenstein, OD FAAO, graduatedfrom UCLA and received his OD from the NewEngland College of Optometry. He completed aresidency in secondary ophthalmic care at theBarnet Dulaney Eye Center in Phoenix beforereceiving his AAO fellowship in 1998. Currentlyhe is the Director of Optometric Services at theSchwartz Laser Eye Center in Scottsdale, Arizonaand President of MRB Eye Consultants. He servedas the President of the Arizona OptometricAssociation and the Arizona OptometricCharitable Foundation. He lectures worldwideand serves as a consultant to numerous industryleading pharmaceutical, biomedical andinformation technology companies.17

SPEAKERSM. Patrick Coleman, COT, ABOC, has managednumerous optometry and ophthalmology clinicsin military and civilian environments, interactingwith 40 optometrists and ophthalmologists inthe past 28 years. A Master Instructor for the AirForce Optometric Technician program for overfive years, Coleman trained hundreds of eyetechnicians & dispensing opticians. Currently,he is a National Paraoptometric Speaker whohelps others learn by presenting material in anentertaining and understandable manner.Julie DeKinder, OD, FAAO, FSLS is an associateclinical professor at University of Missouri-St. Louisspecializing in contact lenses. She graduatedfrom Northeastern State University College ofOptometry and completed a Cornea and ContactResidency at the UM-SL College of Optometry. Sheis Director of Academic and Residency Programs,chief of contact lens services, and coordinator ofthe contact lens residency. Her primary teachingresponsibilities include clinical and didacticinstruction in contact lenses. She is a member ofthe AOA, MOA, and Association of OptometricContact Lens Educators (AOCLE). She is activein the ACOE, and serves on committees for theAAO, ACOE, NBEO and ASCO.18Michael Doll, joined the ZeaVision in 2010, andcurrently serves as the Senior National AccountsDirector. He speaks professionally in the fields ofOptometry and Professional Motivation. He hascertified AOA courses for Para Optometric andstaff “A Technical and Education look at AMD andDry Eye” and is currently writing one for “Diabetic“at risk” patients and Retinopathy.” He attendedthe University of Missouri in Columbia where hestudied marketing and management. He lives inSt. Peters, Missouri, with his two sons, and enjoysoutdoor activities with family and friends.

SPEAKERSMohammad Rafieetary, OD, FAAO is aconsultative optometric physician. He has beenis in practice at the Charles Retina Institute (CRI)since 1996. A graduate of Boston University andUM-SL, he completed a residency in Primary CareOptometry and Ocular Disease at SCO and theMemphis Health Center. Awards he has receivedinclude SCO Faculty of the Year, AmericanDiabetic Association’s National Achievement ofDistinction Award, and the Tennessee Associationsof Optometric Physician’s Optometrist of theYear.Optometric Retina Society. He is publishedin numerous professional journals and lecturesextensively on the subject of diseases of the eyewith emphasis on conditions of the retinal andvitreous.Carol Scott, OD, is a Fellow of the College ofOptometrists in Vision Development (COVD). Dr.Scott has been a Fellow of COVD since 1993. She isa past president of COVD. She is also a member ofthe Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association,Sports Vision Section and Vision RehabilitationSection of the AOA, MOA, and OptometricExtension Program Foundation. Currently she isat the Vision Rehabilitation Center of the Ozarksin Springfield, Mo specializing in stroke and braininjury rehabilitation.19
