It felt almost likenormal. Things are very confusing rightnow, so anything we can do that was in ournormal schedule is great. Our August Starlight Guild program will bea trunk show of appliqued quilts by ourown Kathryn Jones from Marshall, MO. Awoman of many quilting talents, Kathrynwill share her thoughts and ideas of howdetails make the applique. The last timeshe did a program for us, she showed usher crazy quilts and how they are designedand decorated. Come, join us to seeKathryn’s beautiful work!Because of cancelling the quilt show, we’rerearranging our programs and looking fornew ones for the coming year. If you havea suggestion, please let us know. The August program for the Day Chapter ofBooneslick Trail Quilt Guild will feature longtime member Mavis Mitzel. Her program“I Never Met Her but I Am a QuilterBecause of Her” will showcase her quiltingjourney.Mavis is one of the earliest members of theGuild. She has occupied numerous jobs onthe Guild Board during her 40 years in theGuild.I asked Mavis what has surprised her duringthe evolution of quilting. Her answer wasthat quilting is ever changing. Whether it isa new technique, tool or fabric there isalways something new.Find your most festive (or not) PPE facemask and join us for another entertainingmeeting at 7pm on August 6.PPE at Chapter Meetings Disposable masks will be availableshould you forget to bring yours.Hand sanitizer and disinfecting wipes willbe available. No food or drink available at meetings.B.Y.O.W. — the church water fountainsare turned off.No Sit & Sews will be held in August. Our set-up person will have the chairs spaced apart according tothe City’s current social distancing guidelines. We recognize that many of our members may not beready to attend a meeting — but others are. Our expectation was that we would see about 20 to 35members at each July meeting, rather than our normal 40 to 60 person turn out. The July Day Chapterand Starlight Chapters attracted 30-35 members, masked and ready. All members are requested to wear masks.

PAGE 4QUILT-A-GRAMAUGUST 2020CEO MESSAGEThe most obvious concern for the quilt guild during the recent Board Meeting was thestatus of the quilt show scheduled for October 2020. the Covid19 virus has producedmuch uncertainty through out everyone’s plans. Many factors were considered in thedecision. It was voted to dismiss plans to produce a quilt show in 2020.Many sincere thanks to Peggy Brothers and Kat Reece for their diligence in arrangingand organizing toward a show. They were assured that when it is decided to beginagain they were welcome to chair a committee. The process has begun to receive a refund for the deposit made toward the venue atMissouri Historical Society. At Ellis Fischel this week I was told the lap quilts were warmly appreciated however atthis time they are not accepting donations.A new year at BTQG will bring changes and some challenges. We will all need to beconsiderate of different opinions. We shall be able to continue to meet the mission ofthe guild.Wishing all a healthy and productive year as guild members.Boo!
