Wildflower Quilt Guild NewsletterQuips and QuotesSeptember 1, 2018Volume 27, Issue 9A N ot e F ro m t h e W Q G P r e s i d e n tIt was so good to see so many faces at our August Wildflower Quilt Guild Meeting. A warm welcome to ourguests who came, and for those who have joined us forfun, fellowship, and inspiration. Wasn’t our speaker,Brenda Jeschke, wonderful?Holding her quilts for you to see was quite a thrill. Dianeand I got to see the back side, but it was all just beautiful. It is amazing what an embroidery machine will do,and you have to be pretty sure of what you are doing, and it is obvious Brenda certainly is. I enjoyedher helpful hints, and how she was able on her own,to figure out many of the problems that she had. I donot think I have that sort of brain. All I can say, it certainlywas a great program. Thank you, Diane, for getting herto come. That is another plus for our guild, in that we have such agreat variety in programs and workshops. There issomething for everybody, so you newcomers, do not hesitate, come join us for any of the workshops we have oreven consider joining a bee. Your fellow bee membersare also a great resource in asking for help or giving theirthoughts on what to do with a quilt that needs an extrapair of eyes to solve the problem. My husband and I will be taking a short vacation toColorado next week, and hopefully will enjoy somecooler weather, and maybe a rain shower or two. Iwill remember you when I hear the rain, the pitterpatter of the drops, and the thunder. I can alreadysmell it as I sit writing this from my desk.Have a wonderful week, and we shall see you all at thenext guild meeting!Closing thought: Put your foot down and quilt!Happy quilting,S e p t e m b e r W Q G P ro g r a m & wo r ks h o pWhat a trunk showfrom Brenda Jeschke!I was amazed by whatshe can do with anembroidery machine!Might have to dustmine off and try a littlequilting with it. It wasinteresting to hear shedoesn’t have a combination embroidery/sewing machine and she believes ingetting one of the more affordable ones.If you are interested in more information, her website ishttp://brendajeschke.com. She has a calendar of classes, workshops and pictures of her quilts.September 18 Program is School House Round Robin: Lisa Martin – Marking Quilt for Quilting on dsm; Mary Ann Nelson – Binding Quilt; Kathy Dossman—Fabric Manipulation; Stacy Clady—Jelly Roll Rugs;Michelle Weller—Zipper Bag; Ruth Ellen Fise – T-Shirt Applique. On guild night, be sure to draw a number from the basket by the sign in sheets. That will determine whichdemo you will see first. When time is up you will move tothe next numbered table. Number one will start at tableone then move to table two, etc.The September 19 workshop will be Open Sewing: yourown project, charity or QOV at Grace Presbyterian. Timeis 9-3 and price is 5.

I believe my brother’s sons have weak interpersonal communication skills, and I’m convinced this is partly due to their lifelong infatuation with the personal computer. They have few skills at reading or expressing empathy. If they were more skilled, they might have been able to assess their father’s reduced self-esteem, personal control and belongingness, and then do something about it .
