LEGISLATIVE INFORMATION:by:Joe BeckerAny of you hunters in California, who purchased a Bear Tag for 2009, the bear season is over as hunters harvested thealloted number of bears by mid December. To be able to purchase a 2010 Bear Tag, you must mail to DFG the2009unused tag or validated stub for their EIR bear report as soon as possible.Legislation has been pretty quite over the past 2 months, one point of interest you may not be aware of is our Fish &Game Director Don Koch resigned his position as of November 1st, and presently our Governor has not named a newcandidate to fill the position. It has not been stated to my knowledge, but the resignation became public following ourGovernor's veto of a proposed law which would have required species tag moneys to be used for those species, which waspassed by a large majority of our legislature in both houses, plus supported by CBH and our Legislative representativesCOHA. This is a funding problem hunting and fishing organizations have been fighting for several years. As funds arebeing used for other than the intended projects. Another instance of government doing what government wants, mypersonal opinion is laws are past for the public not government agencies. Over my 50 plus years of involvement withgovernment has brought me to this conclusion. I do agree that our government has a tough job in meeting all requirementsof the laws passed over the last 60 years. But I for one would be willing to eliminate many of our regulations and go backto a simple way of life as we had it in 1950 or for those older than I possibly earlier. In February the DFG will propose to the F&G Commission our 2010 mammal and fur bearer seasons, and each of us maysend in our ideas or proposals for these seasons. Yes in doing this we as a group are represented by our CBH/SAALegislative Team of which Robert Moore is our Nor Cal and CBH Leg Rep so we need to communicate our ideas to himpersonally. But in addition individually every citizen of California has a right or obligation to also become involved. Thenafter 3 or 4 meetings of the Commission we will be told what 2010 seasons will be, probably mid April or early May.One other note for 2010 all the Legislative Bills that we managed to beat down to keep from becoming law in 2009, mostlikely will be introduced once again. Look forward to many more anti hunting or firearm legislation to take up many hoursof time this year once again. Not to mention what Washington DC comes up with.6049 SAWMILL RD.PARADISE, CA. 969696
