Can Christians ProsperIn The ‘New Normal’3 of 107IntroductionChristians around the world are looking for answers to themany challenges facing us. A virus that went global lockeddown cities and closed businesses, schools and churches.People have lost jobs and some of their personal rights.Wearing masks is part of the ‘new normal’ and may bewith us for a long time. Parents and their children aredetermining how to move forward with attending schoolsand universities this Fall. Claims of racism are flying in alldirections. There is rioting in the streets. Law and orderare under attack. People are divided and despondent. What are God’s people to do in such a time as this?

Can Christians ProsperIn The ‘New Normal’4 of 107Can Christians prosper in the ‘new normal?’The simple answer is, Yes! However, Christian prosperityoften includes suffering. Suffering? Really? How can we‘prosper’ in the midst of suffering? We learn how from our Master. He both suffered andprospered. How did He do it?“Then Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit, returnedfrom the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into thewilderness, being tempted for forty days by the devil. And in those days He ate nothing, and afterward, whenthey had ended, He was hungry. And the devil said toHim, ‘If You are the Son of God, command this stone tobecome bread.’ But Jesus answered him, saying, ‘It iswritten, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by everyword of God.’”LUKE 4:1-4

Can Christians ProsperIn The ‘New Normal’5 of 107Jesus was ‘tempted’ (tested) by Satan for 40 days in thewilderness. Jesus did not eat anything during that time, sothat in itself was quite a challenge. Satan used the greathunger Jesus experienced in His human body to test the Lord. How did Jesus face the test? By quoting from God’s Word –“Every commandment which I command you today youmust be careful to observe, that you may liveand multiply, and go in and possess the land of whichthe Lord swore to your fathers. And you shall rememberthat the Lord your God led you all the way these fortyyears in the wilderness, to humble you and test you, toknow what was in your heart, whether you would keepHis commandments or not. So He humbledyou, allowed you to hunger, and fed you with mannawhich you did not know nor did your fathers know, thatHe might make you know that man shall not live bybread alone; but man lives by every word that proceedsfrom the mouth of the Lord.” DEUTERONOMY 8:1-3

Can Christians ProsperIn The ‘New Normal’6 of 107Whether you are facing a testing of 40 days or 40 years, realize that the solution is always the same — “man lives byevery word that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord.”Jesus left Satan and the wilderness and headed toward theCross. Why would He do that? How could the suffering Jesusfaced on the Cross bring Him prosperity? The author ofHebrews answers that question for us —“ looking unto Jesus, the author and finisherof our faith, who for the joy that was set before Himendured the cross, despising the shame, and has satdown at the right hand of the throne of God.”HEBREWS12:2 Jesus Suffered: The Son of God endured the cross, despised the shame Jesus Prospered: The Son of God, filled with great joyand anticipation, rose from the dead, ascended back toHeaven and sat down at the right hand of the throne ofGod

Can Christians ProsperIn The ‘New Normal’7 of 107Jesus knew that the great suffering He would face would bringgreat joy to Himself and millions of human beings who wouldspend eternity with Him in Heaven. Jesus lived out the truthexactly as He had answered Satan — “Man shall not live bybread alone, but by every word of God.’” Jesus lived out Hislife on earth according to every Word of God.

Can Christians ProsperIn The ‘New Normal’8 of 107Saturate Yourself In God’s WordThink about what you think about during your day. How muchof it is positive and how much is negative? If you spend a lotof time reading newspapers or watching newscasts, you mayfind that much of your ‘thought’ time is negative. Just look atthe headlines. Almost every one is written to generate fearand divide people from each other. What Christians need todo is ‘saturate’ their minds with God’s Word rather than thewords of people. The Apostle Paul wrote to a group of Christians who also livedin a world that was negative and scary at times. What did Paultell them to do?“Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whateverthings are noble, whatever things are just, whateverthings are pure, whatever things are lovely, whateverthings are of good report, if there is any virtue and if thereis anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. Thethings which you learned and received and heard and

Can Christians ProsperIn The ‘New Normal’9 of 107saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be withyou.” PHILIPPIANS 4:8-9Paul wanted Christians in ancient Philippi to focus on severalthings he knew would help them through tough times. Paulwrote them from a Roman prison, so the Philippians knew thatPaul had seen some tough times. They had known Paul formany years and were familiar with his life. That’s why Paulwrote – “The things which you learned and received andheard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will bewith you.” Paul could use himself as an example of how aChristian should think. Our focus should be the same now as then and “meditate onthese things” —1. whatever things are true2. whatever things are noble3. whatever things are just4. whatever things are pure5. whatever things are lovely6. whatever things are of good report

Can Christians ProsperIn The ‘New Normal’10 of 1077. if there is any virtue8. if there is anything praiseworthyCompare Paul’s list for Christians to what we see and hearfrom the world every day. How many of these things do youfind on your news feeds and televisions today? How muchfrom social media?1. true?2. noble?3. just?4. pure?5. lovely?6. good report?7. virtue?8. praiseworthy?Probably very little, if any. Whether it’s news, entertainment orsocial media, the world’s message is devoid of what Paul toldChristians to ‘think’ about and put into their minds. The ‘world’does not share our views as Christians. They get almost

Can Christians ProsperIn The ‘New Normal’11 of 107everything about the Bible and Christianity wrong. Here’s anexample:I recently heard two major cable network ‘news’ hosts talkabout trying to put racial history in its proper context. One ofthem said this:“Jesus Christ—if you believe in, if that’s who you believe in,Jesus Christ—admittedly was not perfect when he washere on this earth.” CNN, JULY 6, 2020Really? Who ‘admitted’ that? Certainly not Jesus’ apostleswho knew Him best and were inspired by God’s Spirit to writeGod’s truth. Certainly not the Church fathers who knew theapostles and what they believed and taught about Jesus? Theother host shook his head in agreement, but neither gave anyevidence for such an outlandish and false statement. The host of a ‘news’ program made a truth claim concerningJesus Christ that is evidently false and no one on the programor the network challenged him. It’s sad to note that the otherhost had just said something about the importance of reason

Can Christians ProsperIn The ‘New Normal’12 of 107and logic before the false claim was made. The world knowsvery little about reason and logic, which is why we shouldn’tspend much time listening to what they say. Jesus is theLogos, the true ‘logic’ of God.Media bias and continual negativity are two of the reasons Irecommend Christians minimize the time they spend watchingnews programs and reading news feeds or newspapers. Whatyou find there can actually work against the mind, emotionsand spirit of a person. It can eventually affect physical healthas well.Television networks, newspapers and magazines arenotorious for making false claims about the Son of God just intime for Christmas and Easter each year. They roll out thesame lies people have been telling about Jesus since the 1stcentury. The lies were debunked centuries ago, but themajority of people who hear them wouldn’t know that unlesssomeone tells them the truth.

Can Christians ProsperIn The ‘New Normal’13 of 107So, what about the news host’s claim that Jesus was notperfect when He was here on earth? I’ll answer the host thesame way Jesus answered Satan — “Man shall not live bybread alone, but by every word of God.’”The news host wrote online that he grew up in a Christianhome and attended church as a child, but gained ‘commonsense’ when he attended college. He admitted to no longerbeing a member of any church, but wrote that he does“believe in a higher power.” Unless that ‘higher power’ is theLord Jesus Christ, it raises serious concerns about the identityof the ‘higher’ power.I don’t write these things to disparage the news host or any oftoday’s well-known media members. I was once an atheisthost of a radio program and journalist in a major city, so I feeldeeply for their spiritual need. My wish is for them to discoverthe same love and joy I’ve experienced in the amazing Graceof a merciful and forgiving God.

Can Christians ProsperIn The ‘New Normal’14 of 107If Jesus was not perfect while He was on earth, then those ofus who have placed our hope of salvation in Him are doomedto die in our sins. God demanded a perfect sacrifice and that’sexactly what Jesus did — He gave Himself, perfect as Hewas, is and will forever be, to redeem people from sin anddeath —“For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, thatwe might become the righteousness of God in Him.”2CORINTHIANS 5:21“And if you call on the Father, who without partialityjudges according to each one’s work, conduct yourselvesthroughout the time of your stay here in fear; knowingthat you were not redeemed with corruptiblethings, like silver or gold, from your aimlessconduct received by tradition from your fathers, but withthe precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemishand without spot. He indeed was foreordained before thefoundation of the world, but was manifest in these lasttimes for you who through Him believe in God, who

Can Christians ProsperIn The ‘New Normal’15 of 107raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so thatyour faith and hope are in God.” 1 PETER 1:17-21“For to this you were called, because Christ also sufferedfor us, leaving us an example, that you should follow Hissteps: ‘Who committed no sin, Nor was deceit found inHis mouth’; who, when He was reviled, did not revile inreturn; when He suffered, He did not threaten, but committed Himself to Him who judgesrighteously; who Himself bore our sins in His own bodyon the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live forrighteousness—by whose stripes you werehealed. For you were like sheep going astray, but havenow returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of yoursouls.” 1 PETER 2:21-25“Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who haspassed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, letus hold fast our confession. For we do not have a HighPriest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet withoutsin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace,

Can Christians ProsperIn The ‘New Normal’16 of 107that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in timeof need.” HEBREWS 4:14-16“And inasmuch as He was not made priest without anoath (for they have become priests without an oath, butHe with an oath by Him who said to Him: ‘The Lord hassworn And will not relent, ‘You are a priest foreverAccording to the order of Melchizedek’), by so muchmore Jesus has become a surety of a better covenant. Also there were many priests, because they wereprevented by death from continuing. But He, because Hec o n t i n u e s f o r e v e r, h a s a n u n c h a n g e a b l epriesthood. Therefore He is also able to save to theuttermost those who come to God through Him, since Healways lives to make intercession for them. For such aHigh Priest was fitting for us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and has become higherthan the heavens; who does not need daily, as thosehigh priests, to offer up sacrifices, first for His own sinsand then for the people’s, for this He did once for allwhen He offered up Himself. For the law appoints as highpriests men who have weakness, but the word of the

Can Christians ProsperIn The ‘New Normal’17 of 107oath, which came after the law, appoints the Son whohas been perfected forever.” HEBREWS 7:20-28Saturate yourself in God’s Word this week even as you spendless time listening to the world. Remember the precious wordsof Jesus —And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all yourstrength.’ This is the first commandment.” MARK 12:30That commandment includes what we watch with our eyes, hear with our ears and think with our mind. Let us love Godwith our whole being every day of the week.

Can Christians ProsperIn The ‘New Normal’18 of 107

Can Christians ProsperIn The ‘New Normal’19 of 107Put On Your ‘Christian Hat’What we see and hear from the world are not the same thingswe see and hear in God’s Word. That was the primary point ofthe first part of this series. Christians must hear from Godrather than from the world. The messages are often in directopposition to each other. The world cannot begin to give us the wisdom we receive inGod’s Word. Why? The so-called wisdom of this world isfoolishness compared to God’s wisdom.“Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you seemsto be wise in this age, let him become a fool that he maybecome wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishnesswith God. For it is written, ‘He catches the wise intheir own craftiness’; and again, ‘The Lord knows thethoughts of the wise, that they are futile.”3:18-201 CORINTHIANS

Can Christians ProsperIn The ‘New Normal’20 of 107The apostles made it clear that Christians should havenothing to do with the philosophy (e.g. ideas, thoughts, beliefs, plans, direction) of this world. Why? Because thethinking of this world is futile (µάταιος – useless, vain, empty, aimless, without purpose). Why should Christians waste even a minute worrying aboutsomething the world says when it directly contradicts whatGod says? The Apostle Paul warned us about that happening–“Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy andempty deceit, according to the tradition of men, accordingto the basic principles of the world, and not according toChrist. For in Him dwells all the fullness of theGodhead bodily; and you are complete in Him, who isthe head of all principality and power.” COLOSSIANS 2:8-10Putting on our Christian Hat is another way of saying we’regoing to think God’s thoughts and not the world’s thoughts.Watch a newscast. Read a newspaper. Watch worldly moviesor TV shows. That’s when we begin filling our minds, our

Can Christians ProsperIn The ‘New Normal’21 of 107thoughts, our ideas, our beliefs with the world’s beliefs. Ithappens every day to a massive number of God’s peopleliving on earth. And, may I add, it is not something that juststarted recently. The world’s anti-God position andpropaganda is as old as Satan’s first lie.If it wasn’t possible for a Christian to be cheated by theworld’s philosophy, the Apostle Paul wouldn’t have warnedChristians about it. Don’t be deceived by the world’sphilosophy. Don’t conform to the world’s ideas and ways ofthinking. Be transformed!“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies ofGod, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonableservice. And do not be conformed to this world, but betransformed by the renewing of your mind, that youmay prove what is that good and acceptable and perfectwill of God.” ROMANS 12:1-2

Can Christians ProsperIn The ‘New Normal’22 of 107We need to ‘think’ like Jesus thinks. How do we do that?“Let this mind be in you which was also in ChristJesus, who, being in the form of God, did not considerit robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of noreputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and comingin the likeness of men. And being found in appearanceas a man, He humbled Himself and became obedientto the point of death, even the death of thecross. Therefore God also has highly exalted Himand given Him the name which is above every name, thatat the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those inheaven, and of those on earth, and of those under theearth, and that every tongue should confess that JesusChrist is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”PHILIPPIANS2:5-11“He humbled Himself and became obedient ” That’scertainly not how the world thinks, is it? To ‘think’ like Jesusmeans we DON’T think the way the world thinks. Why?

Can Christians ProsperIn The ‘New Normal’23 of 107“For those who live according to the flesh set their mindson the things of the flesh, but those who live according tothe Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For to be carnallyminded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life andpeace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God;for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed canbe. So then, those who are in the flesh cannot pleaseGod.” ROMANS 8:5-8We need to ‘set’ our minds on things ‘above’ (God’s thoughts)not on things ‘on the earth’ (worldly thoughts).“If then you were raised with Christ, seek those thingswhich are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right handof God. Set your mind on things above, not on things onthe earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christin God.” COLOSSIANS 3:1-3Why?

Can Christians ProsperIn The ‘New Normal’24 of 107“For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and nowtell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of thecross of Christ: whose end is destruction, whose god istheir belly, and whose glory is in their shame—who settheir mind on earthly things. For our citizenship is inheaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly bodythat it may be conformed to His glorious body, accordingto the working by which He is able even to subdue allthings to Himself.” PHILIPPIANS 3:18-21“For the grace of God that brings salvation has appearedto all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness andworldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, andgodly in the present age, looking for the blessed hopeand glorious appearing of our great God and SaviorJesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He mightredeem us from every lawless deed and purify forHimself His own special people, zealous for good works.Speak these things, exhort, and rebuke with all authority.Let no one despise you.” TITUS 2:11-15

Can Christians ProsperIn The ‘New Normal’25 of 107“Let no one deceive you with empty words, for becauseof these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons ofdisobedience. Therefore do not be partakers with them.”EPHESIANS 5:6-7“Do not love the world or the things in the world. Ifanyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not inhim. For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, thelust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Fatherbut is of the world. And the world is passing away, andthe lust of it; but he who does the will of God abidesforever.” 1 JOHN 2:15-17“You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in theworld. They are of the world. Therefore they speak as ofthe world, and the world hears them. We are of God. Hewho knows God hears us; he who is not of God does nothear us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spiritof error.” 1 JOHN 4:4-6

Can Christians ProsperIn The ‘New Normal’26 of 107Jesus made it clear that what He wants from His followers–“When He had called the people to Himself, with Hisdisciples also, He said to them, ‘Whoever desires tocome after Me, let him deny himself, and take up hiscross, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his lifewill lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and thegospel’s will save it. For what will it profit a man if hegains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or whatwill a man give in exchange for his soul? For whoever isashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous andsinful generation, of him the Son of Man also will beashamed when He comes in the glory of His Father withthe holy angels.” MARK 8:34-38Jesus’ message to His Church is to OVERCOME the world —not conform to it.“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says tothe churches. To him who overcomes I will give to eatfrom the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradiseof God.” REVELATION 2:7

Can Christians ProsperIn The ‘New Normal’27 of 107“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says tothe churches. To him who overcomes I will give some ofthe hidden manna to eat. And I will give him a whitestone, and on the stone a new name written which noone knows except him who receives it.” REVELATION 2:17“And he who overcomes, and keeps My works until theend, to him I will give power over the nations.” REVELATION2:26“He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the templeof My God, and he shall go out no more. I will write onhim the name of My God and the name of the city of MyGod, the New Jerusalem, which comes down out ofheaven from My God. And I will write on him My newname.” REVELATION 3:12“To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on Mythrone, as I also overcame and sat down with My Fatheron His throne.” REVELATION 3:21

Can Christians ProsperIn The ‘New Normal’28 of 107“And He said to me, It is done! I am the Alpha and theOmega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of thefountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts. Hewho overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be hisGod and he shall be My son. But thecowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexuallyimmoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have theirpart in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.” REVELATION 21:6-8So, how do we overcome in the world we live now with all itscraziness? How do we live our lives in a way that we canaccomplish the goals Paul gave us to focus on the rightthings? Put on your Christian Hat. Get into the Word and staythere. Saturate yourself in God’s Word. Read it, meditate onit, memorize it, hide it in your heart. Why? Because it is alive and powerful!

Can Christians ProsperIn The ‘New Normal’29 of 107“For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharperthan any two-edged sword, piercing even to the divisionof soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is adiscerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”HEBREWS 4:12Listen to Jesus’ prayer to His Father for His disciples —“I have given them Your word; and the world has hatedthem because they are not of the world, just as I am notof the world. I do not pray that You should take them outof the world, but that You should keep them from the evilone. They are not of the world, just as I am not of theworld. Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth. AsYou sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into theworld. And for their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they alsomay be sanctified by the truth.” JOHN 17:14-19Paul wrote the Philippians that they should think on “whateverthings are true.” Jesus prayed that God the Father would“sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.”

Can Christians ProsperIn The ‘New Normal’30 of 107“But,” you say, “I don’t have time to be God’s Word every day.”Really? Is it is that hard to read God’s Word, hear God’sWord, on a daily basis? Be honest. Do you really think thatexcuse is valid? I think if we are honest with ourselves, weknow that excuse won’t float. We make time for so many otherthings we think of as ‘important’ during each day. Why notsome time for Gods Word? Here are some ideas that might help — Read several verses of Scripture every day and thinkabout them throughout the day Listen to the Bible in your car or on a phone app at homeor during a break at work Read several Bible verses to your children at the dinnertable or as you put them to bed at night (maybe an entirechapter) We schedule time to watch our favorite televisionprograms every day. Also, schedule time to be in God’sWord every day. Don’t let days pass without being inGod’s Word.

Can Christians ProsperIn The ‘New Normal’31 of 107Don’t give God any excuses now that you wouldn’t give Himface to Face when you see Him in Heaven. God doesn’t wantour excuses. He wants our obedience. He wants our mindsand hearts. He wants us to live for Him in a world thatdesperately needs to hear His Truth . not the nonsense ofthis world.God loves us dearly and knows that our minds need dailyrenewing. If we’re not being transformed by the renewing ofour mind, we have a great chance of conforming to this world(Romans 12:2). One of the best ways to renew our minds inthe middle of a culture that conforms to the will of Satan is todo what Jesus said – “Man shall not live by bread alone, butby every word of God.’”

Can Christians ProsperIn The ‘New Normal’32 of 107

Can Christians ProsperIn The ‘New Normal’33 of 107Don’t WorryHere’s another of Paul’s recommendations to Christians –“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer andsupplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests bemade known to God; and the peace of God, whichsurpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts andminds through Christ Jesus.” PHILIPPIANS 4:6-7The Spirit of God knows that Christians get anxious aboutthings, so He gave us something we can about it. We canpray with specificity, purpose and power. That’s important forus to note as we face so many difficulties in our world.Notice the process the Holy Spirit gives us: Be anxious for nothing but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known toGod

Can Christians Prosper In The ‘New Normal’34 of 107and the peace of God, which surpasses allunderstanding, will guard your hearts and minds throughChrist JesusGod knows things in life can make us anxious. People worryand are sometimes afraid. The words “fear not” and “do notfear” are found scores of times in the Bible. Jesus said thosewords to His disciples many times –“And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot killthe soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy bothsoul and body in hell.” MATTHEW 10:28“Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than manysparrows.” MATTHEW 10:31“Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s goodpleasure to give you the kingdom.” LUKE 12:32

Can Christians ProsperIn The ‘New Normal’35 of 107“Then Jesus, when He had found a young donkey, sat onit; as it is written: ‘Fear not, daughter of Zion; Behold, your King is coming, Sitting on a donkey’s colt.”JOHN12:14-15Jesus addressed the issue of worry in the middle of HisSermon on the Mount (from John 6:25-34) – “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, whatyou will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and thebody more than clothing Which of you by worrying can add one cubit tohis stature? So why do you worry about clothing? Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For afterall these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenlyFather knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Can Christians Prosper In The ‘New Normal’36 of 107Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow willworry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is itsown trouble.” Excellent advice then and now.

Can Christians ProsperIn The ‘New Normal’37 of 107Antidotes To WorryOne of the best places to go to learn about antidotes forworry, fear and anxiety is what the Bible teaches us throughthe life of King David. You’ll find the details of his life in theBooks of Samuel, Kings and Chronicles, but David’s prayersand praises are memorialized for us in the Psalms. David washonest about his emotions –“The pangs of death surrounded me, And the floodsof ungodliness made me afraid. The sorrows of Sheolsurrounded me; The snares of death confronted me.”PSALM 18:4-5King David was also honest about how he learned to trustGod in tough situations –“I sought the Lord, and He heard me, And delivered mefrom all my fears.” PSALM 34:4

Can Christians ProsperIn The ‘New Normal’38 of 107Prayer. Seeking God with our whole heart, mind and soul.Trusting God even when things look darkest.Does God answer every prayer, every time, right away? Wemight think He doesn’t based on experience, even theexperience of King David. However, if our concept of prayer isgetting what we want every time, right away, we are sorelymisinformed about the process of prayer.

Can Christians ProsperIn The ‘New Normal’39 of 107How To Pray SpecificallyLook back at what Paul wrote the Philippians –“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer andsupplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests bemade known to God; and the peace of God, whichsurpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts andminds through Christ Jesus.” PHILIPPIANS 4:6-7The first step is to be anxious for nothing. Some other ways ofsaying that are – “do not be anxious about anything” ESV “Don’t worry about anything” CSB “Be careful for nothing” KJV “Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything” AMPC

Can Christians ProsperIn The ‘New Normal’40 of 107Anxiety, worry and fear is part of what happened to humanswith the fall into sin –“Then the Lord God called to Adam and said to him,‘Where are you?’ So he said, ‘I heard Your voice in thegarden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hidmyself.” GENESIS 3:9-10The fact is that you and I will be anxious and wor

things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard a
