Thetime for repair should therefore be limited to aminimum which can be accomplished by keeping aspare pump. The changed pump can later be repaired at a suitable place and can then be used as aspare pump. For maintenance the following spare parts kits arerecommended:Kit ContentsTo be used forG057 Gaskets, ballbearing, etc. Dismantling of thepumpG053 G057 shaft seal G050 Normal scheduledinspectionG054 G053 complete rotor set Repair afterG012 (for CW rotation) damage or valve spring, item 615 greater wear* not valid for A084 and A087Service intervalsThe intervals for inspection and replacement of wearparts vary greatly with the properties of the pumpedliquid and can only be determined by experience.Except for the ball bearing, all internal parts of theACF-pump are lubricated by the pumped liquid.Pumping liquid which contain abrasive materials, orliquid that is corrosive, will significantly reduceservice life and call for shorter service intervals.ACF 0616GBFebruary 2002Wear in the pump will normally show as unnormal: Vibration Noise Loss of capacity Reduction in flow/pressure LeakageWe recommend planned inspection and overhaul atregular intervals, not exceeding 3 years. It is recommended always to have the spares included inminor spare part kit G053 available.IMO AB, Telephone: 46 8 50 622 800, Telefax: 46 8 645 15 09E-mail: info@imo.se, Web: www.imo.se3

Changing ball bearingThe ACF-pump is fitted with an external greaselubricated ball bearing. When delivered from IMO AB, the ball bearings arefilled with grease of type B.Whenever the ball bearing is removed, it is recommended to exchange it for a new one.Fit the new ball bearing properly greased and regrease it after one hour of running, while the pump isoperating.Lubrication intervalsPump sizeGreaseamountgram080and09015100, 110and12523Tempmax BBCUse an appropriate type of grease, as per table andgrease gun suitable for grease nipple (pos 473)according to DIN 71412 (ISO 6392).On vertical mounted units the greasing intervals arereduced to half.Installed in dusty or dirty premises or in a corrosiveenvironment it should be lubricated at more frequent intervals. If using others than these recommended greasescheck if it is possible to mix them with each other, otherwise clean before using a new grease.Recommendedgreases:Speed, rpmType A175014501150950BP Energrease LS3Lubricating intervals in working hours Esso Beacon 3Mobil Mobilux 210 000 10 00010 000 10 000Shell Alvania G33 9004 7005 3005 900Texaco Multifak EP 27 9009 50010 000 10 000Type BBP Energrease, HTG23 1003 7004 2004 700Chevron Industrial1 2001 5001 6001 800Grease Heavy450600650650Esso Unirex N39 000 10 00010 000 10 000Mobil Mobiltemp,3 5003 9004 7005 300SHC 1007 1007 9009 50010 000Shell Darina 22 8003 1003 7004 200Texaco Hytex EP 21 1001 2001 5001 600Type C300450600600Mobilith SHC 460Inspection of rotorsInspection of shaft sealTo reach the idler rotors in a quicker way thandescribed in the dismantling section, loosen the rearcover (480) with valve. Screw out the idler rotorsbackwards.Internal clearances in the pump, which are vital forits proper function, may have been affected by wear.Acceptable wear can be determined only by experience of the actual application. As a rule of thumb thefollowing max clearance values may apply: Between rotor and bores: 0.2 mm Between rotor flanks: 0.4 mmFor light duties (low pressure, medium viscosity)even bigger clearances may be acceptable but forlow visc./high pressure duties the limit will belower. Also watch if there are major scratches onthese parts. As the seal faces of a mechanical shaft seal are lubricated by the fluid a certain leakage will always bepresent. Ten drops per hour can be considered asacceptable. An external visual inspection of the pump is advisable at least every two days to assure that the shaftseal is not leaking too much. Excessively leaking shaftseals should be changed without delay, as the leakagenormally will grow worse and cause additionaldamage. Follow the instructions in the dismantling/reassembly session. When working with a shaft seal, cleanliness is ofutmost importance. Avoid touching the seal faces. If necessary, the seal faces should be cleaned immediately prior to assembly, using a dust free cloth andclean solvent. For lubrication of shaft seal read instructions in fig 22.4If the pumps operating temperature exceeds 60 C let the pump cool off before anyservice, maintenance or dismantling workis commenced to avoid burn injury.!When handling liquids which may involvefire hazards appropriate precautions toavoid danger are to be taken.!All work carried out on the pump has to beperformed in such a manner that risks forpersonal injury are observed!!In case of failure for a system with elevatedpressure, fluid jets may cause injury and/ordamage.!When handling liquids that may harm skinuse gloves and/or protective clothing.!Oil leakage may make the floor slipperyand cause personal injury.!IMO AB, Telephone: 46 8 50 622 800, Telefax: 46 8 645 15 09E-mail: info@imo.se, Web: www.imo.seACF 0616GBFebruary 2002
