Ultimate Casement and UltimateAwningOperation and MaintenanceThe powerful single-arm operator is the mechanism thatyou crank to open and close the Ultimate Casement andUltimate Awning. To operate the window, first unlock it bypushing the lock handle ‘up’. Crank the handle to openthe window sash.Lock handleUnfold the folding handleto open the sash.Lock handleFolding handleTo lock the window, crank the window sash closed. Pressdown on the lock handle. The lock pulls the sash tightlyagainst the weather strip and seals the window.To keep your Casement or Awning operating smoothly,clean the window track occasionally with a dry brush.To help prevent the sash from sticking, apply a smallamount of dry lubricant to the track (available at mosthome improvement stores) if necessary. Do not useoily lubricants.Using the Wash-Mode FeatureThe Ultimate Casement and Ultimate ReplacementCasement feature a wash mode system which allows theentire window to be washed from inside the home.NOTE: Wash mode available on Casement product with20” widths and greater. Not available on Awning windows.Crank the handle a coupletimes. Push down on thearm and push the windowaway. The arm can bedisconnected anywherewithin the first 45 degreesof opening. Ultimate Push Out CasementUltimate Push Out AwningOperation and MaintenanceUltimate Push Out products offer a universal look and a moretraditional alternative to crank out casements and awnings.To open, turn the lock handle horizontally and push thewindow sash open. To close, grab the handle and pull thesash to a closed position. Turn the handle downward to lock.The Push Out Casement features a friction limiter whichholds the sash in place and allows the sash to lock open atmultiple locations. To adjust the friction limiter, follow theMarvin Ultimate Push Out Supplemental instructions (partnumber 19970045) which can be found on www.marvin.comTo keep your Ultimate Push Out Casement or Awningoperating smoothly, clean the window track occasionallywith a dry brush. To help prevent the sash from sticking,apply a small amount of dry lubricant to the track (availableat most home improvement stores) if necessary. Do notuse oily lubricants.Wash-Mode Feature on the Push OutCasementThe Ultimate Push Out Casement features the revolutionarywash mode system which allows the entire window to bewashed from inside the home.Unlock and open the sash. Swing the window all the wayopen and pull it across toward the lock. You now haveaccess to the exterior of the window.Wash Mode on Ultimate Push Out CasementTo operate the Ultimate Push Out Awning, rotate the lockhandle vertically and push the window open. To close,grasp the handle and pull the window sash shut. Lock thewindow by rotating the lock handle horizontally.To place sash in wash mode unlock and open the sash.Disconnect friction limiter arm from the sash and push itback under the hardware cover. Ultimate French CasementOperation and MaintenanceTheUltimateFrenchCasement features twosash with a roto mechanismattached to each sash. Thesash lock, located on thesill, operates a lockingmechanismthatwilllock primary sash to theframe on two sides whileactivating a slide lockingmechanism that locks thesecondary sash to theprimary sash. To operatetheUltimateFrenchCasement, first unlock it byturning the lock handle. Instead,it features a robustadjustable friction limiterdevice to hold the sash inplace when opened, andlocks the sash open atmultiple points. The multipoint lock on the primarysash locks into the head,sill and into the stile ofthe secondary sash. Thelock on the secondary sash activates bolts that go intothe head jamb and sill. To operate the Push Out FrenchCasement, pivot the handles horizontally and simply pushthe sash open. To adjust the friction limiter, follow theMarvin Ultimate Push Out Supplemental instructions (partnumber 19970045) which can be found on www.marvin.com.Follow the same maintenance information provided in theUltimate French Casement section.Ultimate Venting PictureOperation and MaintenanceTo operate the UltimateVentingPicture,simply flip both handleassemblyleversupwards. This actionwill allow brackets topivot the sash outwardwhileremainingcentered. The exteriorsash projection willbe approximately 3/4”to 1” depending onthe product’s glassthickness. Reverse thisaction to close the sash.The Ultimate Venting Picture requires very littlemaintenance. Clean the glass occasionally, and maintainthe interior wood or exterior surfaces on the same scheduleas your other windows.WindowsMarvin Owner's Manual7
Ultimate GliderHow to Remove the Glider SashOperation and MaintenanceThe Ultimate Glider featuresone handed operation. Graspthe handle to both unlockand open the sash. Pushthe sash closed and it willlock automatically. When thesash is closed completely,the tabs will make an audible“clicking” noise, indicatingthe locks are engaged.Open the interior operator sash the fully open position.Depress the sash retainer bar latch and slide the retainerbar completely free of the sash. Grasp both sides of thesash, tilt the top inward and remove the sash. To install,reverse the above procedure.Periodically clean the sashslide track located underthe sash. Spray slide tracklightly with furniture wax toprevent sticking. Be sureto wipe off any excess wax.The Ultimate Glider features tabs to help in confirmingwhether or not your window has locked. If the windowhas been closed completely and you do not see thetab, the window is locked. In the illustration above, thetab is protruding fromthe stile which signifiesthe window is notlocked. If your windowhas not been installedsquare in the opening,the tabs will indicatethat lock adjustment isneeded. XX ConfigurationsInstall the Screen (Clad)After the interior operator sash has been removed, slidethe interior sash retainer bar back across the head jambto its closed position. Open the sash to the fully openposition, depress the sash retainer bar latch and slide thesash retainer bar completely free of the sash. Grasp thesash on both sides, tilt the top inward and remove thesash. To install the sash reverse the above procedures.Open the interior operator sash to the fully open positionand insert the screen, with the screen guides towards thebottom, into the opening. Pull the screen up tight againstthe frame while pulling on the screen pins. Once thescreen is tight against the frame let go of the pins.Removing sash for XX configurationNOTE: For XX units install the screen with the astragal firstand slide it across the opening tight upagainst the side jamb.Detailed information on installation, sash removal andscreen removal can be found in the installation section ofour website (www.marvin.com).WindowsMarvin Owner's Manual9
Wood Ultimate Double HungOperation and MaintenanceTo operate the Wood Ultimate Double Hung window,unlock the sash lock by rotating the sash lock leverhorizontally. Once unlocked, push the bottom windowsash upwards to the desired position. To close, reversethe procedure.Periodically clean the vinyl jamb liners where the sashslides. Keep them dirt and grease free by washing with agentle dish detergent. Wipe jamb carriers dry before use.How to Tilt the Wood Ultimate Double HungSashNOTE: For instructions on how to safely tilt or remove yourWood Ultimate Double Hung Magnum sash, see yourlocal dealer or distributor.To tilt the bottom sash, unlock the sash and raise it about4” (102 mm) up from the sill. With one hand, rotate thetilt lever (nestled in the sash lock base) until it stops andyou’ve heard a click. Use the other hand to grasp the topof the sash and pull it in towards you until the top rail ofthe sash clears the frame. Release the sash tilt lever anduse both hands to lower the sash to a horizontal position.Tilt Lever1. Raise bottom sash about 4”(102 mm). Rotate the tilt leveruntil you’ve heard a click.2. Pull sash towards you until itclears the frame.3. Grasp the top of the sash andgently lower it into a horizontalposition.10WindowsMarvin Owner's ManualTo tilt the top sash, lower the sash about halfway and useboth hands to simultaneously pull in on the tilt latcheslocated on the top rail of the sash. While holding in onthe latches, pull the sash inwards until the top of the sashclears the frame. Release the tilt latches and ease the topof the sash down to a horizontal position.NOTE: The top sash is not tiltable on a Single Hung window.How to Remove the Wood Ultimate DoubleHung SashTilt the bottom sash as described in the previous section.When the sash is in a horizontal position, lift both sides ofthe sash upward 2”-3” (51-76 mm) raising pivot pins out ofeach clutch. Now rotate the sash until pivot pins clear thejambs and remove the bottom sash from the frame.
Next, tilt the top sash using the same technique describedin the previous section. When the sash is in a horizontalposition, lift both sides upward 2”-3” (51-76 mm) raisingpivot pins out of the clutch. Finally rotate the sash untilthe pivot pins clear the jambs and remove the top sashfrom the frame.How to Replace the Wood Ultimate DoubleHung SashHold the sash exterior side up with the top rail facingtowards you. Rotate and insert the sash so the sash pinsclear the frame and place it so the lower sash pin is 2”4” (51-76 mm) above the clutch. Rotate the sash to thehorizontal position and lower it down until the pivot pinsare fully seated into the clutches. Simultaneously pull in onboth tilt latches and tilt the sash up into place. Release thetilt latches and operate the sash to ensure that the sashis operating smoothly. Replace the bottom sash followingthe same procedure, except fully engage the tilt lever priorto lifting the bottom sash into place.Ultimate Double Hung MagnumSome significant differences between the Magnumand other Marvin Double Hung windows are higherperformance ratings and availability of very large doubleand single hung windows. Another difference is thatwhen opening the Magnum window it will stop before itreaches the fully open position. Contact your local Marvindealer for detailed instructions on how to safely tilt and/orremove the sash.Rotate the sash and insert itinto the frame.Make sure tilt pins arecorrectly seated in eachclutch before proceeding.ClutchWindowsMarvin Owner's Manual11
Ultimate Double HungNext GenerationOperation and MaintenanceLock/Unlock1. Slide sweep counterclockwise into the135-degree position.2. Both sashes can nowbe opened.3. To lock the window,simplyslidebothsashes into the closed position. An audible “click” tellsyou the windows are locked.Bottom Sash Tilt & Wash1. Slide the sweep counterclockwise into the135-degreepositionand raise the bottomsash a few inches.Depress the button located on the top of thesweep, then continueto rotate the sweep tothe 180-degree position. To tilt, gently pull the top ofthe sash from window jambs.2. To install the sash, hold down the button while simultaneously pushing the sweep into the 180-degreeposition. Gently replace the sash into the frame andrelease the button and sweep. For instructions onhow to safely tilt or remove sash from a UltimateDouble Hung Next Generation window with structuralperformance brackets, see your local Marvin dealer ordistributor.NOTE: On some windows that require specificperformance needs, i.e., Storm Plus or sizes that requirestructural performance brackets the tilt and wash mode willbe disabled. To tilt the top sash, lower it to a comfortable workingposition. Retract the tilt latches located on the top rail andgently pull the sash from the jambs. Note: If the top sashis in the closed/locked position and the bottom sash hasbeen removed the top sash can be unlocked and loweredby retracting the top sash latches on the top check rail.WindowsMarvin Owner's Manual13
Magnum Tilt-TurnOperation and MaintenanceMarvin Tilt-Turn windows offer a unique operating systemthat allows you to open the window in one of two ways.Turning the window handle from the downward “locked”position to a 90 degree angle (horizontal) lets the windowswing open on the hinges. To open to a tilt position,close the window and turn the handle upright to a verticalposition. Now the window will tilt on the hinges along thebottom of the unit.WARNINGFailure to close the sash completely before rotatingthe handle could result in sash removal.Occasionally use a silicone spray lubricant on the hingesand locking mechanism to keep the operation smooth.Be careful not to allow oil to come in contact with windowsurfaces. Occasionally clean the sill weep and drainchannel area out with a vacuum. Interior and exteriorfinishes can be cared for in the same manner as any otherMarvin window or door.Magnum Hopper andMagnum Inswing CasementThe Magnum Hopper and Magnum Inswing each offer onehalf of the operation features of the Magnum Tilt-Turn. TheMagnum Hopper tilts open at the top while the MagnumInswing Casement swings open like a door.
