The goal is to have acollection of student work that helps everyone appreciate the major cultural andsocial themes/characteristics that influenced modern artists and authors.Each of you will have to create a piece of artwork of your choice: Possible creations: a painting, a photograph you took, a poem, a song, short film, etc. Your artwork must successfully demonstrate one or more of the majorthemes/characteristics we have discussed during our American Modernism Unit(*hint: our BAIT acronym)To help your classmates reflect on your work, you will need to write a 1-page reflection thatprovides the following information about your artwork: The name of your submission Which modern theme(s)/characteristic(s) you chose and why you chose thetheme(s)/characteristic(s) you did Which pieces of modern literature (The Great Gatsby must be one of them) inspired yourchoice and how/why they influenced the content and visual design of your artwork (*hint:PowerPoint “Modernism in Other Forms”)The day of the art exhibition everyone will get to see what you have created so make sure it is yourbest work! Attendance is required. During our class exhibition you will pick three (3) works of artthat you think are the best overall. To defend your choices you will need to complete a brief reviewof each one: Identify the name of the work of art and the modern theme(s)/characteristic(s) it represents Summarize the ideas in the artist’s reflection that helped you see that the artworksuccessfully reflects a modern theme/characteristic Describe at least one other reason you feel this work of art should be picked as one of thebestThis assignment is worth 85 points.
