Message from thePresidentDear Students, Faculty, and Staff Members,Student success is a priority at Columbus State!Promoting student success starts from day one andinvolves every one of us: students, full-time faculty andadjuncts, student services staff, and the college administration, including the President and the Board of Trustees. From admission through graduation, what we all doand how we do it makes a huge impact on each student’sprogress. At Columbus State, certain tools help build successinto our educational endeavors. One of those tools isthe annual college catalog, in printed form and online. The catalog contains a blueprint for success in whateverprogram of study a student chooses. It details what eachcourse covers, the academic credits to be earned, andwhich quarters each course is offered. The catalog alsolists the many opportunities available to students, such astutoring and financial aid, that can contribute to success. The online version of the catalog is updated, as needed, throughout the academic year, so users should check online to verify what is printed within these pages. Go to cscc.edu, click on Programs & Courses and select Catalogon the left. This year’s catalog is the last one to carry course listings and programs of study by quarter. Beginning Autumn2012, like many other state colleges and universities, the college will operate on a semester-based academic calendar rather than on one based on quarters. Next year’s catalog (2012-2013 Columbus State Catalog) will reflect thesemester orientation and will be available a bit earlier for student planning. Please use this year’s catalog carefullyin advising and scheduling, recognizing the transition on the horizon.May the 2011-2012 academic year reflect successful choices and successful outcomes for all of us.Sincerely,David T. Harrison, Ph.D.President1
