PROFESSIONAL LICENSURE BY STATE TABLEApplied Behavior Analysis, Graduate Certificate ASU OnlineSpecial Education (Applied Behavior Analysis), MA ASU OnlineASU’s ABA programs include coursework that meets the Association for Behavior Analysis Internationalverified course sequence requirements to qualify to sit for the Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)exam. Applicants will need to meet additional requirements before they can be deemed eligible take theexam. We offer an optional practicum for students seeking to accrue BCBA supervised field experience.The authority to practice applied behavior analysis, or use the title of behavior analyst, is granted on astate-by-state basis. Many states require BCBA certification for licensure. However, not all states haveenacted legislation to create a regulatory body for ABA licensure and not all states that have licensurerequire BCBA certification. To receive a Clear Teaching Credential (valid for 5 years– nonrenewable), the candidate will need to 1) meet all preliminary credentialing requirements; 2) complete a twoyear, job embedded, Teacher Induction Program; and 3) earn an English learning authorization (ASU’s StructuredEnglish Immersion (SEI) endorsement is not an acceptable CA equivalent). Please note, California does not offera Birth-Grade 3 subject area. Candidates seeking licensure in this subject area may apply for a Child DevelopmentPermit (allowing candidates to teach in programs like Head Start) or a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential viaReciprocity (allowing candidates to teach in a self-contained classroom).Colorado. If all other state credentialing requirements are met, a candidate may be granted an Initial License(valid for 3 years). Also, Minnesotarequires candidates to have multiple student teaching placements. Candidates in Early Childhood are required tohave experience at three levels: infant/toddler, preschool and K-Grade 3. Candidates who do not have multiplegrade level placements may be restricted to the grade levels of completed student teaching experience.Mississippi. If all other state credentialing requirements are met, candidates who have completed a MLFTCbachelor’s –level program may be granted a Class A Educator License. Candidates who have completed aMLFTC master’s-level program may be granted a Class AA Educator License. Please note: Mississippi does notoffer an Early Childhood, Birth-Grade 3 or an Early Childhood, Special Education Birth-Grade 3 certificate.Missouri. If all other state credentialing requirements are met, a candidate may be granted an Initial ProfessionalCertificate.Nebraska. If a candidate meets all other state credentialing requirements, including Nebraska’s human relationstraining and special education training requirements, a candidate may be issued an Initial Teaching License. Toreceive a Standard Teaching License, a candidate will need to 1) meet all Initial Teaching License requirements,and 2) have two years of full time, standard license, teaching experience in a comparable grade/subject area.Nevada. If all other state credentialing requirements are met, including one year of full time teachingexperience AND one of the following: 1) 24 credits in core content area OR 2) passing content/subject areaexams, the candidate may be granted a Level 1 teaching license. If all other state credentialing requirements are met, a candidate may apply for Initial ProfessionalLicense (IPL) (valid for 3 years – nonrenewable). To receive a Continuing Professional License (CPL) (valid for 5years renewable) the candidate will need to 1) meet all IPL requirements; 2) have a valid and comparable out ofstate license; and 3) have three years of full time teaching experience. Please note: North Carolina does not offera Birth-Grade 3 license. A candidate may apply for North Carolina Grades K-6 license.North Dakota. If all other state credentialing requirements are met, a candidate may be granted an Other StateEducator License (OSEL).Ohio. If all other state credentialing requirements are met, candidates completing a MLFTC program may beissued a Resident Educator License with limitations via reciprocity. To apply via reciprocity, a candidate must holda comparable, standard and valid out of state license prior to applying for Ohio licensure. Please note: Candidatesmust satisfy all other Ohio state requirements, including an additional 6 credit hours in phonics and reading. Also,Ohio does not have a Birth-Grade 3 certificate. Candidates may be granted a PreK-Grade 3.Oklahoma. If all other state credentialing requirements are met, a candidate may be granted a Standard TeachingCertificate. Please note: Oklahoma does not offer a Birth-Grade 3 certificate. A candidate may apply for a PreKGrade 3 certificate.Oregon. To receive an Instructional Level II certificate (valid for 99 years), a candidatewill need to 1) meet all Level I certificate requirements; 2) have three years of full time teaching experience inPennsylvania; 3) complete a Pennsylvania Induction Program; and 4) have 24 post-baccalaureate credits. Pleasenote: Pennsylvania does not offer an Early Childhood, Birth-Grade 3 certificate. A candidate may apply for PreKGrade 4 certificate.Rhode Island. If all other state credentialing requirements are met, a candidate may be granted an Initial EducatorCertificate. To apply via reciprocity, a candidate must hold a comparable, standard and valid out of state licenseprior to applying for South Carolina licensure – out of state license with a US/AZ Constitution deficiency may beaccepted. Please note: South Carolina does not offer an Early Childhood, Birth-Grade 3 certificate or an EarlyChildhood Special Education, Birth-Grade 3 certificate. A candidate may apply for an Early Childhood, PreK-Grade3 certificate or a Special Education Ages 3-5. Educators are ineligible to apply for reciprocity if they hold a currentSouth Carolina educator certificate or held a South Carolina Professional Certificate within the past 10 schoolyears.South Dakota. If all other state credentialing requirements are met, a candidate may be granted a ProvisionalCertificate.Tennessee. If all other state credentialing requirements are met, a candidate may be granted a Standard ClassroomTeacher Certificate (valid 5 years-renewable). If all other state credentialing requirements for licensure are met, including but not limited to examrequirements, a candidate may be granted a Professional Educator license.
