T h e s i g n a l g e n e r a t o r c a nbe operated under either fixed frequencyco n t r o l o r i n v a r i a b l e f r e q u e n c y m o d e i neach band.OThe generator can be modulatedinternally by a 1020 Hz Ident Tone,Marker, VHF Omnidirectional Range(VOR), Localizer (LOC) or Glide Slope( G / S ) T o n e s.OA si x- d i g i t c o u n t e r w h i c h i n d i c a t e s t h e R Fof the signal generator on any band, thefrequency of a COM Transmitter undertest, any external signal input from 1 MHzto at least 300 MHz, or the VOR Bearings e l e c t e d b y t h e B e a r i n g S e l e c t S w i t ch e s.OA built-in RF power meter measures COMT r a n sm i t t e r p o w e r , f r o m 0 - 1 0 W o r0-100W, either peak or average power bys e l e c t i n g a sw i t ch p o s i t i o n l o ca t e d o n t h eFront Panel. INSTALLATION1.1 GENERAL1.4.1T h e T e s t S e t i s p o w e r e d b y a n i n t e r n a l b a t t e r y.The Test Set contains a battery chargingc i r c u i t w h i c h e n a b l e s t h e o p e r a t o r t o r e ch a r g ethe battery when connected to ac power.Installation/operating personnel should attemptt o i n st a l l o r o p e r a t e t h e T e st S e t o n l y a f t e rreading and complying with instructionscontained in this manual. All procedurescontained in this manual must be performed inexact sequence and manner described.NOTE:The Test Set can operate continuouslyon ac power for servicing and/orbench tests.Refer to 1-2-2, Figure 2 for location ofcontrols, connectors or indicators.1.4.2The 0 to 30% scale displays battery voltage.Normal battery charged condition is indicateda s 1 5 V o r g r e a t e r . L e s s t h a n 1 2 . 5 V i n d i ca t e sa discharged battery. An automatic lowvoltage cutoff circuit turns the Test Set OFFwhen the battery voltage drops under 12.5 V.The Test Set contains an automatic time-out toconserve power. An automatic timer turns theTest Set OFF after 6 to10 minutes (only whenu s i n g b a t t e r y p o w e r ) . T h e T e s t S e t ca n b erecycled by pressing the PWR/BAT Switch tothe BAT position.1.3 BATTERY CHARGINGT h e b a t t e r y c h a r g e r o p e r a t e s w h e n e ve r a cpower is applied to the Test Set.
