You will find that MathLessons for a Living Education is a unique approach to learning math. A blend of stories, copywork, oralnarration, and hands-on experience brings the concepts to life and invites the child to explore the worldaround them. The tone of this math book is meant to speak personally to each child, and the methods easilyadapted to any teaching style. The first 30 lessons have a story about the twins, teaching through hands-on learning. Sometimes, theselessons are learned by the twins’ explorations in nature. After the story, there are exercises for students topractice the lesson they learned and to review what they have learned earlier. The last 6 lessons are focusedreviews, covering topics learned throughout the first 30 lessons.4Math Level 3

Course Objectives: Students completing this course willD Review addition and subtraction, and basic numbers up to 100D Explore new concepts like, word problems, skip counting, money, and timeD Learn how to read bar graphs and line graphs, as well as understand basic measurementD Identify place values, regrouping concepts, and measurement with a thermometerD Narrate the story to their teacher to show their comprehension, which to “narrate” is simply to tell thestory in one's own words.Teaching mathematics as a living subjectThis book is the continuing story of Charlie andCharlotte, who are learning that life is full oflearning opportunities! As you read their story, students will be drawn into the adventure alongwith the twins. They will learn about numbers, shapes, place value, adding, and subtracting. Theywill also learn about geography, and the love offamily. They will be invited to join the twins on theirliving math adventures. I hope you have a grandtime on this adventure. Have a wonderful timeexploring and learning! As a teacher and a mother, I have discoveredthat true education is based on relationships: therelationship the child makes with the amazingconcepts in the world around them; the relationshipthe teacher and the child make with each other; andmost importantly and ultimately, the relationshipthe child makes with their Creator. It is built ondiscovering the God of the Universe — the OneMath Level 3who holds the universe in His hands but at the sametime, lovingly indwells the heart of a little child. The story in Book 3 is meant to reach into a child’sworld, grab their attentions and invite them intothe learning process. The concepts are not taughtthrough drill only, but also through encouragingthe student to hone their critical thinking skills andthink outside of the box. This curriculum teachesthe student math, but it is not result-oriented,focusing only on grades; instead it is skill andprocess-oriented. I have discovered that it is in theeveryday that we grow and become who we aremeant to be. It is in the little discoveries all alongthe path of life that we grow, learn, develop, anddiscover who God is and, in turn, see ourselves theway He sees us. Math concepts are learned well, asit is learned in the context of living, in the midst ofdiscovery, and through Godly, worldview glassesthat focus on the bigger picture.5

Review of Place Value, Oddsand Evens, Counting by 2s, 5s, 10sLesson1The sweet-smelling, spring breeze fluttered the light blue curtains in thewindow of the schoolroom. The sound of birds chirping drifted in fromoutside, along with Dad’s cheerful whistling under the window, as heuncovered the central air conditioning unit. Charlie sighed and tugged onhis coonskin cap, which seemed to be a permanent fixture on his head.He did not have the slightest clue how he was ever going to finish hisschoolwork today! He sent a sideways glance toward Charlotte. She waschewing the end of her pencil and staring at the ceiling, seemingly deep inthought. Charlie sighed again. It was the last week of school before summerbreak. Mom had told them at breakfast that morning that she only had a fewassignments left for them to finish up before they left on their trip.Their trip! Charlie wiggled with excitement. The very next week theywere going to fly on an airplane, with Mom, Dad, and their baby sister,Ella, all the way to Lima, Peru! “Excited” did not even begin to describehow Charlie felt. Mom and Dad had told them that they were all goingdown to meet Natalia and Hairo! Dad was going to spend the summer— which is winter in Peru — helping tobuild a clinic close to the children’s home.He was also going to finish the last wingof the home. Mom and the children weregoing along to help with some large sewingprojects for the children, the clinic, and themission society that helped bring comfort tothe poor in Lima.“Charlie, Mom says that we can be donefor the day if we just finish the copywork ofour poem, complete our math worksheet, and do our silent reading. Are you finishedyet?” Charlotte’s voice brought Charlieback to the classroom. He sighed again andtugged his hat’s tail.“No, I still need to finish this math work. Are you done yet, Charlotte?” he asked histwin sister.Math Level 3 – Lesson 115

“Almost. I only have to finish my copywork. Let’s work quickly, Charlie.Mom says that we can help get ready for our trip if w

MATH 110 College Algebra MATH 100 prepares students for MATH 103, and MATH 103 prepares students for MATH 110. To fulfil undergraduate General Education Core requirements, students must successfully complete either MATH 103 or the higher level MATH 110. Some academic programs, such as the BS in Business Administration, require MATH 110.
