FLINT HILL BAPTIST CHURCHTheLocated near Boiling Springs, N. C., was organized August 27, 1909.first pastor was Rev. R. Newton Hawkins. The second building wasThe third building was erected over a period of threeand was dedicated in June, 1944. The present pastor has servederected in 1925.years,the church since June, 1940.

W.Costner, pastor of Flint Hill BaptistChurch since June,Beulah and Shady Grove churchesnear Cherryville, N. C., in the Gaston Association. Wheeler, as he isknown to his friends, professed faith in Christ and was saved, baptizedand joined Double Shoals Baptist Church when he was just a boy.Brother Abe Irvin baptized him. He has always been a fine Christiangentleman and has been faithful in the service of his Master. Forten years he was our efficient Associational Sunday School Superintendent, doing a monumental work among our Churches. It was from thiswork that God called him into the ministry. In a short while variousChurches had called him into full-time service. In 1938 he was electedClerk and Treasurer of the Kings Mountain Association and has beenre-elected each year since then. His efficient work is appreciated by thewhole Association and the Minutes bespeak his thoroughness, accuracyand faithfulness. He is a good preacher, pastor, church builder, andorganizer, and this whole section looks forward with keen anticipationRev.1940.HeJ.isalso pastor of Mt. /KINGS MOUNTAIN BAPTIST ASSOCIATIONCONSTITUTIONPREAMBLE: We,messengers of Baptist churches in theNorth Carolina, and territory adjacentthereto, do hereby propose to establish and maintain the order andrules of a district Association in conformity to the following plan:Countytheof Cleveland, State ofARTICLE 1. The nameMountain Baptist he membershipof the Association shall consistbe selected by the churches comprising itand duly certified to in the annual letters sent by the churches tothe appointed meetings, the basis of representation being two messengers for each church -having a membership not exceeding fifty, andof2.such messengers asmayone additional messengr for each increase of fifty or major fractionthereto in church membership. All pastors serving constituent churchestogether with all regularly ordained ministers holding membershipin these churches shall be members of the body*:The courtesiesof the floorinterests,mayandbe extended to representatives of the denominationalto ministers and members of other Christianalsoorganizations.ARTICLE 3. The Association shall meet annually, the time andplace being determined at the previous session; and each annual meeting shall organize itself by enrolling its membership, and by electingmembership the following officers: Moderator, Vice-Moderator,and Historian, whose duties shall be to serve in theusual capacity of such officers and who shall hold office, unless dulyfromitsClerk, Treasurer,deposed by the electing body, until their respective successors are elected.AMENDMENTAt the discretion of the Association, all offi(1):be elected at the close of one session to serve until the closeof the succeeding one.cersmayAMENDMENT (2): There shall be a Nominating Committee appointed at each session to serve during the coming year. This committeeshall come to the Association prepared to make the usual nominations.ARTICLE 4. At each annual session a General Board shall beappointed by the Association, which Board shall consist of the generalofficers of the body together with the superintendents of the S. S. andARTICLEcounsel5.togetherThe prime purposefortheofthis Association shall be toenlargement and strengthening of God’sKingdom by promoting unity and growth among the churches composing it, and by co-operating with the programs of the State BaptistConvention and the Southern Baptist Convention in the work of Missions, Christian Education, and Social Service, and any and all otherobjects. At each annual meeting one or more delegates shall be electedto represent this body in the ensuing sessions of these conventions.(14 )

KINGS MOUNTAIN BAPTIST ASSOCIATIONW. M.U. Work, the president of the B. Y. P. U. Convention, the president of Gardner-Webb Junior College, the pastor of each church composing the Association, and two members from each church, whichmembers shall be nominated by the church or by delegates presentfrom the church and approved by the Association. This Board shallhold meetings either monthly or quarterly and shall exercise the functions and discharge the duties usually committed to an executive boardor committee. At its discretion it may select out of its own number anExecutive Board of not less than seven members to act in its behalfbetween sessions of the full board.The purpose and plansof this General Board in all its meetingspromote the interests and carry forward the work of theAssociation and of its constituent churches as this work is outlined inArticle 5 of the constitution. The Board may select a time and placeand arrange a program for holding extra sessions of the Associationfor inspirational and devotional meetings. In case of emergency it mayalso arrange for special business sessions of the body; provided, however, that no action taken in such extra business session shall conflictwith any action of a previous regular session, and provided furtherthat the business of such extra sessions shall be limited to the objectfor which it was convened, and the membership of such special businesssessions shall be made up of the messengers elected by the churchesshall be toand accreditedto the previous regular session.ARTICLE 6. The Association may receive other churches into itsfellowship on letters of dismission from other like organizations.Itmay also receive newly constituted churches whose articles of faithharmonize with the Confession of Faith attached hereto, and whosepractice conforms to the purpose of this Association as set forth inArticle 5 above.ARTICLE7.in the affairs ofWhile disclaiming the right or authorityany local church, this Association assertsto interfereits privilegeof using its discretion in receiving churches into its fellowship,and inwithdrawing fellowship from any church found on careful investigation, to be walking in disorder or failing in practice to endorse andsupport the missionary and benevolent work of the Baptist denomination.ARTICLE 8. This Association shall conduct its business sessionsin accordance with parliamentary practice as set forth in any wellauthenticated book dealing with the subject.ARTICLE 9. This Constitution may be changed or amended atany regular meeting of the Association; provided, however, that eachproposed change or amendment be submitted in writing on the firstday of the session to be voted on during the day following, and twothirds of themembers presentshall concur in its adoption.(15 )

KINGS MOUNTAIN BAPTIST ASSOCIATIONCONFESSION OF FAITH1.We believe the Scriptures of the Old andbe a divinely inspired revelation from God.2.Weof salvationandNew Testamentstoacecpt the New Testament alone as revealing the only planand as the final authority in all matters of church policypractice.3.WeNew Testament towho truly accept Himbelieve Jesus Christ as revealed in thebe the Son ofGod andthe divine Savior ofallas such.4.We believe in the personality of the Holy Spirit, and in Hisabiding presence with the spirit of all the elect of God, in His quickening presence with the spirit of the unregenerate moving to repentanceand faith, in His witnessing presence with the spirit of the regeneratecomforting and guiding throughout life in His sustaining presence inthe experience of death, and in His continuing presence in the come.5.Webelieve salvationin the act of repentance6.burialisattained through spiritual regenerationof Jesus as Savior.of Jesus,son should symbolize his ownbaptism.Wetoand acceptanceSince spiritual redemption wasand resurrectionlifemadeavailable by the death,webelieve that every regenerate persalvation by being buried with Him inbelieve that a local churchmodeled after the New Testaregenerate persons voluntarily joinedtogether for the purpose of extending God’s Kingdom on earth.7.ment orderisacompanyof8.We believe that each church should from time to time, as acongregation, celebrate the Lord’s Supper as a memorial to Him.9.We believe in the ultimate triumph of God’s Kingdom over allopposing powers, and that every regenerate soul shall have a share inthat triumph.(16 )

L. Whisnant,9.Superintendent of the Sunday Schools of the Association.SUNDAY SCHOOL REPORTToday, as never before, we shall accept the teachings of the Holywill. The greatest teacher that ever walked the earthcame by the singing of the angels, “Glory be to God and the highest,peace on earth and good will to men.” He administered to the humanneeds and chose the twelve and taught them three years in the thraeministries; The Judean, the Perean and Gallelian Ministry.Bible as the HolyIn this changing world we have one of the greatest and mostdreadful things on earth, and that is this terrible war we have been enduring for the past three years here in the United States. This is takingour best blood, the best minds and the best Christians that the worldhas ever known, and, leaving the faulty and the unfit in thisland.There are 25 million white people in the South that are not enrolledSunday School. There are 2 million Baptists that a Bible schoolis not reaching. There are 15 million over 9 years of age that are lost.This runs parallel with the crimes that are increasing to one crime every23 seconds. There are 3,879 crimes every 24 hours.
