AMERICA’S ARMYOUR PROFESSION – STAND STRONGSALT MissionThe School of Advanced Leadership and Tactics provides officercontinuing education for mid-grade officers (1LT throughCPT(P) and WO1 through CW2(P)) with a focus towardsenhancing technical and tactical proficiency, enabling capablebattalion and brigade staff officers and strengthening directleadership competencies in order to cultivate critical andcreative thinking and agile and adaptive leadership to betteraddress complex problems and to lead combat formations nowand in the future; manage leadership instructional productsand tasks for the officer pre-commissioning and primary levelsof learning, for Basic Officer Leader Course (BOLC), and for theCompany Commander First Sergeant Pre-Command Course(CCFSPCC). Represents SALT initiatives to Army LeaderDevelopment Forum. Mid-Grade LearningContinuumAMERICA’S ARMYOUR PROFESSION – STAND STRONG1. The Army LearningAssessment (ALA) measuresan officer’s or warrant officer’sknowledge in foundational Armyand branch ledge2. The ALA results tailor feedback for the officer or warrant officer to conduct Guided SelfDevelopment as Officer Self Development Program Level 1 (OSDP-1) that consists ofArmy and branch doctrinal foundations, completed prior to attending the CCC or WOAC.Guided SDOnlyBOLCALAALAOSDP-1a Common Core Guided Self Development4hrs3. The CCC and WOAC continues to be a 2024 week PCS or a 2-19 week TDY course. TheCommon Core (CC) is a brand new curriculumat a higher level of learning than the current CC.The branch content may include ‘tracks’ ofinstruction tailored to officers’ and warrantofficers’ past education, training, and experienceand will not exceed current length’s withoutTRADOC approval.The RC-CCC 21 day ADT Model achieves an81% equivalency to the AC-CCC and bestsupports the Army Learning Model and MLC.OSDP-1b Branch Guided Self Development4hrsUpon completion ofthe CCC or WOAC,the officer willreceive the awardof MEL F and WOMEL M and creditfor mid-grade levelPME.Up to 75 hrs4. The final component is OSDP-2 that continues through the officer’s and warrantofficer’s branch key developmental (KD) assignments. The ALA results tailor feedback forthe officer to conduct Guided SelfDevelopment as Officer SelfDevelopment Program Level 1(OSDP-1) that consists of Army andbranch doctrinal foundations, completedprior to attending the CCC.Officers may be required by thebranch to take a second ALA coveringthe same materials as the original ALAupon entering the CCC to provide SGLsa baseline assessment for tailoringinstruction to small groups.MSAF events are triggered by ordersfor PME. The Army leader completes aself-assessment; selected subordinates,peers, and superiors complete theirassessments of the leader. MSAFassessments and feedback addressleader core competencies fromADP/ADRP 6-22, Army Leadership.Officer Learning ContinuumBOLC-ILE3. The CCC continues to be a 20-24 week PCScourse. The Common Core (CC) phase (8 weeks inlength) is a brand new curriculum at a higher level oflearning than the current CCC CC. The branchcontent may include ‘tracks’ of instruction tailored toofficers’ past education, training, and experience andwill not exceed 12-13 weeks without TRADOCapproval.The RC-CCC 21 day ADT Model achieves an 81%equivalency to the AC-CCC and best supports theArmy Learning Model and MLC.4. The final component is OSDP-2 thatcontinues through the officer’s branchkey developmental (KD) assignments.OSDP-2 content is tailored and modularlearning agreed upon by the unitcommander, branch commandant, andthe officer effectively completing theofficer’s requirements within the MLC,thereby preparing the officer for ILE andbeyond.Completion of the resident CCFSPCCis mandatory prior to assumingduties of Commander. The final component is W-OSDP-2 that continuesthrough the warrant officer’s key developmental (KD)assignments. MLC Common CoreAMERICA’S ARMYOUR PROFESSION – STAND STRONGBLUF: The MLC CC is a completely new, 8-week (240 hrs) course that focuses primarily on developingcompetent Bn/Bde staff officers who are critical thinkers and self aware company grade leaders who caneffectively communicate.
