INTRODUCTIONThis Open-File Report lists by quadrangle or other geographic area U.S. GeologicalSurvey, U.S. Bureau of Mines, State of Alaska Division of Geological and GeophysicalSurveys reports and maps, and other selected al.ticles, abstracts, reports, and maps onthe geology, geophysics, and mineral and water resources of Alaska which were publishedor released in 1982. Also included are a few pre-1982 reports t h a t were omitted f r o mother indexes of this series. Quadrangle or other area symbols (see names andabbreviations listing on page I1 and quadrangle map locations on page III) following eachtitle indicate the area(s) of study included in that report. A slash and asterisk annotation(I*)following an area designation indicates that the entry mentions selected mineralresources, mineral occurrences, or ele m ental geoche mica1 evaluations.Reports that deal with regional tectonic hypotheses, broad regional syntheses,Alaska in general, or with areas that could not be indentified with specific quadranglesare entered under "Alaska General". Reports and maps that deal with offshore areas, some o f which may include part of one or more onshore quadrangles, are listed under"Offshore Areas". The "Alaska General" and the "Offshore Areas" listings appear beforethe alphabetically arranged quadrangle listings. This index of 1982 geological literature on the State of Alaska and adjacentoffshore areas i s intended t o bring u p to date previous indexes of this series (see listingon pages IV-V).However, note that this index, unlike i t s predecessors, also includesselected articles, abstracts, and maps from other sources as well as governmentpublications.
