Important NoticeThese Fair Wear and Tear Guidelines are only applicable ifyou return your Vehicle on the expiry date. They are to beread with your Toyota Access Finance Contract.It is important that you are familiar with these Guidelines.They provide a basis for determining what is reasonable fairwear and tear for a vehicle at the end of your Finance Contract,based on the term and agreed number of kilometres (EndOdometer), as set out in your Toyota Access Finance Contract.What is fair wear and tear?Fair wear and tear means:The deterioration in the repair, workingorder and appearance of your Vehicle,as is reasonably consistent with yourobligations to use and maintain yourVehicle, in accordance with your ToyotaAccess Finance Contract and these FairWear and Tear Guidelines.—— Y our Toyota Access Finance Contractprovides that you must keep yourVehicle in good order and repair.—— T hese Guidelines define the limitsof acceptable damage and wear andprovides clear examples of damageand wear that Toyota Finance will notaccept as fair wear and tear.Why is fair wear and tear relevant tomy Toyota Access Finance Contract?Toyota Finance has based theGuaranteed Future Value (GFV) for yourVehicle on being returned in good andproper working order (fair wear andtear excepted). It is also based on thenumber of kilometres that your Vehiclewill travel over the contract term, i.e.the End Odometer. If your Vehicle isnot returned to Toyota Finance in anacceptable condition, this results in thereduction in the GFV and the payment ofa lesser amount – e.g. the Adjusted GFV.When will the assessment of fair wearand tear be made?Prior to the expiry date of your Contract,Toyota Finance will contact you to askwhether you are proposing to returnyour Vehicle on the expiry date in returnfor Toyota Finance paying you the GFVnominated in your Finance Schedule.Toyota Finance’s assessment will bebased on the condition of your Vehicleat that time and whether it meets theseFair Wear and Tear Guidelines. ToyotaFinance will also check the odometerto determine whether an Excess UsageCharge will apply.

What happens if the Vehicle meetsthese Fair Wear and Tear Guidelines?If your Vehicle meets the Fair Wear andTear Guidelines and has not travelledmore kilometres than agreed, ToyotaFinance will apply the GFV to yourFinance Contract to meet your balloonfinal payment.What happens if the Vehicledoes not meet the Fair Wear andTear Guidelines?Where the Vehicle does not meet theFair Wear and Tear Guidelines, ToyotaFinance will reduce the GFV by theestimated cost of repairing or restoringthe Vehicle to the condition it ought tohave been at the end of the contractterm. This reduced amount is calledthe Adjusted GFV and will not besufficient to meet your balloon finalpayment obligation.How do you avoid a fair wear and tearadjustment being made to the GFV?i. K eep your Vehicle in good orderand repair and ensure that it isregularly serviced in accordancewith Toyota’s recommendations,as set out in the Toyota Service andWarranty Handbook.ii. E nsure that your Vehicle doesnot travel more than theagreed kilometres.Lack of regular servicing and attentionto preventative measures, plus misuseor neglect, are the main reasons forvehicles not meeting these Fair Wearand Tear Guidelines.Some tips to ensure that yourVehicle meets the Fair Wear andTear Guidelines—— E nsure your Vehicle is regularlyserviced in accordance withToyota’s recommendations –refer to your Toyota Serviceand Warranty Booklets.—— R egularly clean your Vehicleinside and out, including theupholstery and trim.—— R egularly check fluid levels andtop them up when needed.—— I mmediately investigate anyunusual mechanical noises orpoor running symptoms – refer toyour Toyota Dealer for assistance.—— F ix any damage or defects whenthey occur.—— E nsure that all controlsare working.—— R egularly inspect your tyresand wheels to ensure that theyare in good condition and safe.—— D o not exceed Toyota’s towingguidelines for your Vehicle.—— C omplete the Fair Wear and TearGuidelines Checklist periodicallyand prior to the end of the contractterm to avoid any surprises.Examples of fair wear and tear are provided on the following pages.For more information go to toyotafinance.com.au

Toyota Access Fair Wear and Tear GuidelinesThese Guidelines are a guide to what is meant by fair wear and tear, whichis the standard by which your Vehicle is to be assessed when it is returnedto Toyota Finance relative to Vehicle type, age and distance travelled.Your obligationsMaintenance – Regular maintenance andservicing should be carried out by yourToyota Dealer or by an authorised repairerin accordance with Toyota guidelines,using approved service parts andlubricants only. Any defects or damagethat occurs during normal Vehicle useshould be rectified as soon as possible.The Vehicle’s Toyota Service and WarrantyBooklets (including the full servicerecord) and any other documents relatingto Vehicle equipment should be retainedand made available if the Vehicle is to bereturned to Toyota Finance at the end ofthe Contract period. All documents mustbe in the Vehicle upon return – includingany details of radio codes.Appearance – The Vehicle should bereturned at the end of the Contract periodin a suitably clean condition to allowproper inspection of the paint, bodyand interior.Additional Equipment – Equipmentsuch as car telephones that have beeninstalled are to be removed, and anyholes or damage should be repaired toa professional standard. All standardequipment, together with non-standardor ‘customised’ fittings originally suppliedwith the Vehicle, must be returned at theend of the Contract period.Badges and Labels – Non-standardbadges, labels or advertising fitted to thebody work or glass of the Vehicle shouldbe removed, with any damage causedby their attachment or removal fixed.Any paint work colour fade due to theattachment of advertising would resultin an adjustment to the GFV. Advertisingshould never be painted directly ontothe Vehicle.Keys and Security – A full set of keysand remotes must be available andfunctioning. Return of the master keywhich controls the Vehicle’s enginemanagement system is mandatory.If the Vehicle was originally suppliedwith a security system, this should beintact and fully operational, including anykey or key fob necessary for operation.Any additional, non-standard securitysystem should be fitted according to arecognised standard.Mechanical Condition – The Vehiclemust be regularly serviced, properlymaintained and kept in sound mechanicalcondition. The following examples areconditions usually caused by Vehicleneglect or misuse and therefore are notregarded as fair wear and tear.i. Brakes – Grooved brake discs causedby metal to metal contact.ii. Engine – Seized due to runningVehicle with insufficient coolantand lubricating oil and with brokeninternal components.iii. Transmission – Slipping, erraticgear changing, clutch slipping,noisy transmission or ineffectivesynchromesh.

Examples of what is acceptable andunacceptable fair wear and tearThese can vary between makes and models and are subjectto change. Wear andsoiling through normal use isacceptable, as are any repairs that arenot readily visible Burns, singes, cuts, rips,holes, tears, visible repairs toseats/trim and controls Normal odours, tobacco smells Damage to seat structure Fading caused by normal exposureto sunlight Removable stains and singes (to sizeof 10mm diameter) that have notholed fabric materialFor light commercial vehicles it isrecommended that a lining be fitted inthe load area to prevent serious damageto the Vehicle’s interior, as excessivedamage to this area is unacceptable.CIGARETTEBURNS& STAINS Immovable stains e.g. permanentsoiling to seats and carpet caused bythings like abuse (such as oil, solvent,paint, grease, etc.) Torn or split luggage area trimpanels, lining and floor coverings Mismatched colours Stitching that has come apartand needs to be repairedTORNUPHOLSTERY

Body WorkAcceptableUnacceptableAny damage must be repaired when itoccurs. All work should be completedto a professional standard, with anyapplicable anti-corrosion guaranteestaken into consideration. Prominent paint touchups/major flakingMinor paint touch ups or minor flakingis acceptable.Minor dents are acceptable as longas the paint surface has not beenpenetrated so that bare metal is visibleor corrosion has set in.Minor areas of stone chipping,bonnet, lower wheel guard, dooredge chipping and light scratches areacceptable, relative to the Vehicle’sage and mileage, as long as theyhave not penetrated through to thebase metal and caused corrosion. Exposed undercoat or metal Hail damage, buckling, distortions,missing badges Foreign matter etched into paintwork(e.g. bird/bat excrement) Scrapes/deep scratches – morethan 25mm in length and deep– more than two per panel Dents greater than 20mmin diameter Misaligned panels Unrepaired or poorly repairedaerial holes (or, where applicable,aerial must be left in place) Poor panel/paint repairsExamples are: Any rust Scratches – if not through colourcoating – no more than two perpanel/nine per car and less than25mm in length and shallow –excludes through to metal Structurally damaged, bent/twistedholes and rust in cargo area Stone chips – six chips per panelup to 3mm diameter Dents – two per panel/eight per carat 20mm diameter by 2mm deep Prominent areas of majorstone chipping Multiple dents occurring on a singlepanel (no matter how small) thatrequires repairing/replacing Major abrasions more than 25mm,signs of constant use of automaticcar wash Damage caused to the vehicledue to the attachment orremoval of decals/stickersEXPOSEDMETALDENT
