rs are designed to make it easy to produce high quality, versatile wargames terrain that fits together perfectlyand stays together while in use.The system is based around precision laser cut frames which are made from a base and four sides that have different profiles(flat, hill slope, road, river, stream, canal etc). These profiles mean that each tile that you make will line up perfectly with thetile next to it which has the same profile. The side pieces each have two holes to fix the rare earth magnets in which aresupplied with each kit. The rare earth magnets hold the tiles together when the terrain is being used.WHAT YOU NEED PVA glue (MDF parts) 2” thick polystyrene Super glue (Rare earth magnets) Cutting mat Old brush Masking tape Sharp knife (adult supervision is advised) A clear workspace Fine sandpaper Black marker Ready mix filler PatienceHOW TO PREPARE PARTS Sand any rough edges on tabsClear holes for rare earth magnetsOUR TOP TIPS Dryfit pieces throughout the assembly to ensure they fit seamlessly and to make sure you get the shape you want thetile to have. When placing the rare earth magnets, you must make sure that all sides have the magnets placed in the same polariseddirection. Masking tape can be used to hold unglued magnets in place. Colouring the left (or right) magnet on every side can help you remember to place magnets in a way that makes themconnect on all sides. When placing your polystyrene in the frame, make sure it does not push the sides outwards or the tiles will not fittogether.

Terra-Formers2Step 1Frame for base Glue the four pieces for the base. Hold them together by placing masking tape over the cornersStep 2Adding tile-sides to the base frame. Glue and add sides to base. Make sure you place the sides according to your required setupof terrain. Hold sides together using masking tape.Step 3Prepare frame before gluing magnets. Place a piece of masking tape on the inside of each hole. Using a black marker colour across all the holes to the left oneach side (seen from the inside of the frame).Step 4Prepare magnets for gluing. Take the stack of magnets and colour all of them on one side.Go from the top (either end) and make sure the same side ofthe polarity is coloured on every one.

Terra-Formers3Step 5Attaching magnets to frame. Looking at the frame from the outside you will see that all the holeson your right will show darker masking tape. You can either put a drop of super glue into the hole or over themagnet after placing it as described below. Place your magnets, from the outside, in a way so that the one onyour right is showing the black side and the left one is showing theuncoloured side. Support the frame as you press it into place Make sure the magnets are placed without protruding the insideand outside of the frame. They are the same thickness as the MDFparts.Step 6Adding magnets to additional tiles Using an already assembled tile, place your magnets on the outsideof this frame. Colour the magnets on the outwards facing side on right side withthe black marker and glue them to your new frame as described instep 5 Remember to colour the inside of the hole/masking tape to ensureyou place the magnets correctly.If not placed correctly, the tiles will not stick together !Step 7Preparing your tile If your tile is prepared for submerged terrain features such as roads,rivers, and streams, now is the time to break off the pre-cut partsfor these details.Step 8Foundation for your terrain Cut a 1’ square from your polystyrene making sure it fits inside theframe without pushing the sides outward. If it does it will ruin thetight fit of your terrain tiles. You can stack thinner plates of polystyrene if you do not have thecorrect thickness or need to build higher than the frame itself.

Terra-Formers4Step 9Adding detail. When your polystyrene is in place, you can begin drawing yourdetails on it. Draw outlines of roads, rivers, hills and similar as required.Step 10Cutting into the polystyrene Cut your details using a sharp knife. If you have a wire cutter, this can ease the workconsiderablyStep 11Circular hills If you are doing a corner hill section you can cut off the hillalmost as you would cut a pie. Do not cut as deeply at the top of the hill as you do at the end ofit. When you are finished, you can shape the hill by placing theknife blade flat on the hill and sliding it under each “piece ofpie” to shape the hill.Step 12Planning ahead. When you have several frames , it a good idea to shape severalat the same time to ensure the terrain as a whole is created theway you want it. Filler can be used to fill in any gaps. Texture can be applied as desired. You may wish to use filler tocreate added texture, sand, flock etc.
