1 About this specificationThe Pearson Edexcel International GCSE in Chemistry is part of a suite of International GCSEqualifications offered by Pearson.This qualification is not accredited or regulated by any UK regulatory body.This specification includes the following key features.Structure: the Pearson Edexcel International GCSE in Chemistry is a linear qualification.Two written examinations must be taken in the same series at the end of the course ofstudy.Content: relevant, engaging, up to date and of equivalent standard to Pearson’s regulatedGCSE in Chemistry.Assessment: untiered, written examinations with questions designed to be accessible tostudents of all abilities.Approach: a solid basis for students wishing to progress to the Pearson Edexcel AS andAdvanced GCE Level or equivalent qualifications, focusing on key chemistry theory.Specification updatesThis specification is Issue 1 and is valid for the Pearson Edexcel International GCSE inChemistry examined from 2019.
