(Dunlavy) Jackson.On Oct. 5, 1963, he married Gail Shoemaker, who survives.He was a lifetime area resident of Indiana, and was in sales and marketing for 10 years withBornemann Products. He became president in 1970 and owner/CEO since 1975.He was a graduate of Mentor High School, Mentor, Ohio in 1957, member and president ofTippecanoe Lake Country Club, full director of First Source Bank in South Bend for many years,and he had a passion for golf.He is survived by his wife, Gail Jackson of Nappanee; one son: Daniel Thomas and LisaJackson of Mission Viejo, Calif.; and one daughter: JoAnn (Robert) Jackson of Mishawaka. He lived mostof his life in the Bourbon area until 1978 when he moved to Plymouth. Hank married WaunitaHunt on Nov. 26, 1939; she died March 5, 1968. He later married Anna White on April 14, 1978,she survives.He was a retired farmer as well as retired from Young Door Company of Plymouth. He was amember of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge in Plymouth, was active in the Silver DollarSaddle Club and was a member of the Bourbon Fair Board. He graduated from TippecanoeHigh School with the class of 1937. Kuhn, age 84, Granada Street, New Smyrna Beach,Fla. died on Monday, Jan. 9, 2006 at Ocean View Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, New SmyrnaBeach, Fla.Born in Star City, Mr. Kuhn came to Florida in December, 1962 from Burr Oak. He was a selfemployed floor installer.Mr. Kuhn was a member of American Legion Post 17, Knights of Columbus, member and Elk ofthe year of Elk's Lodge 1557, and Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, all in New SmyrnaBeach. He was in charge of bingo for years at the Elk's and the church.He was a U. S. Army WWII veteran, converted PT boats from a two man to a one man operationand had several telephone conversations with Franklin D. Roosevelt. He worked with a GermanPOW also named Kuhn and became friends.Mr. Kuhn once had tea with Ginger Rogers, loved to bowl and was inducted in the Bowling Hallof Fame, April, 1993. He also built, owned andoperated the Comet Theatre in Bourbon in addition to being a school teacher. They lived inBremen after their time in Florida, but still spent winters in Florida until about five years ago.They also spent a couple of winters in Arizona. Prior to moving to Florida, they lived in Bourbonwhere he taught school.Gene graduated from Wabash College in Crawfordsville in 1935 where he was a star basketballplayer and had the honor of being named to the 1935 All State College Basketball Team. Hewas a school teacher for 35 years and a former high school basketball coach. He was a memberof Grace United Methodist Church in Bremen, a 32nd Degree Mason, a 50-year member of theMasonic Lodge in Bourbon and later Plymouth, a member of the Ft. Wayne Valley of theScottish Rite and the Mizpah Shrine Temple and a member of the Delta Tau fraternity.He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting and bowling. He liked spectator sports and watching sportson TV. He was an avid reader, excellent crossword puzzle solver and like to play cards. Memorial gifts may be made to a charity of the donor'schoice.Nellie Marie Long was born in Monon, Ind. on March 3, 1919 to Joseph and Clara (Burks)Newgent.Nellie was the one of nine children surviving infancy: Katherine, Eva Mae, James, Nellie, Wilbur,Mary, Charles, Eugene and Margaret. They also had one older half sister, Mabel. Of thesesiblings, Nellie is survived by her two younger sisters, Mary Putt of South Bend and MargaretSmith of Elkhart.Growing up, Nellie was very involved in helping with the family farm and household chores, andespecially enjoyed working outdoors with her father. She and her siblings did not have manymaterial possessions, but the stories she told impressed one with the closeness and fun theyhad growing up to together.On July 23, 1937 she married Grant Frederick Long in Monticello. Their daughter, Marilyn wasborn June 11, 1939. Nellie and Grant remained in Monon until the early 1960's, where Nellie wasa wife, mother and homemaker. After leaving Monon, she and her husband retired for threeyears to Tucson, Ariz., then later moved to Plymouth. Grant passed away on March 4, 1970, andNellie continued to live in Plymouth until 1987. During those years in Plymouth she worked forDolan's Market and Harvey Mart. After leaving Plymouth, Nellie moved to Titusville, Fla. in orderto be closer to her daughter and family.Throughout her life Nellie was a very outgoing person and loved meeting people. She enjoyedcooking, baking, gardening, crocheting and knitting. She was also very proud to become a 50year member of the Order of Eastern Star.Although plagued for several years by arthritis, she enjoyed relatively good health until the pastyear when she began suffering from congestive heart failure. She was able to live alone andmaintain her own home until the past year, and continued to enjoy cooking, baking and sewingfor her family and friends.
