Assemble Your DeviceThe following topics help you to assemble your device.Install the SIM Card and a Memory CardWhen you subscribe to a cellular network, you are provided with a plug-in SIM card. Duringactivation, your SIM card is loaded with your subscription details, such as your PersonalIdentification Number (PIN), available optional services, and other features.Warning: Please be careful when handling the SIM card to avoid damaging it. Keep all SIM cardsout of reach of small children.You can also install an optional microSD , microSDHC , or microSDXC memory card (notincluded) to add more memory space to your device. A memory card can be installed at any time. It isnot necessary to install it prior to using the device.Note: Your phone’s SIM card is preinstalled. These instructions are for reference only.Caution: Exercise care when using the removal tool to eject the internal SIM card/Memory cardtray.1. Insert the removal tool into the hole on the SIM card/Memory card tray, and then push until thetray pops out.2. Place the SIM card on the tray.lMake sure that the card’s gold contacts face down into the device and that the card ispositioned as shown.3. Place the memory card on the tray with the gold contacts facing down.4. Slide the SIM card/Memory card tray back into the slot.Note: Your device is IP68 rated for dust and water resistance. maintained free of dust and water, and the tray is securely inserted prior to any exposure to liquids.For more information, refer to Maintaining Water and Dust Resistance.Charge the BatteryNote: You should dry the inside of the charging port before inserting a power connector to chargeyour device. If the charging port is not fully dry, your device may operate abnormally. For example, itmay charge more slowly or overheat. For more information, refer to Maintaining Water and DustResistance.Your device is powered by a rechargeable, standard Li-Ion battery. A USB charger (charging headand USB cable) is included with the device for charging the battery from any standard outlet.The battery comes partially charged. You can use the device while charging.Note: For fastest charging times, use the Adaptive Fast Charger that came with your device. Thischarger provides faster charging only when connected to devices that support Adaptive FastCharging.1. Insert the USB cable into the USB charger/ Accessory port.Caution: Use only charging devices and batteries approved by Samsung. Samsung accessoriesare designed for your device to maximize battery life. Using other accessories may invalidate yourwarranty and may cause damage.2. Connect the USB cable to the charging head, and then plug the charging head into a standardoutlet.3. Unplug the charging head from the outlet and remove the USB cable from the device whencharging is complete.Note: This device is also compatible with wireless charging devices approved by Samsung, whichare sold separately.Set Up Your DeviceAssemble Your Device6

When to Charge the BatteryWhen the battery is low and only a few minutes of operation remain, the device sounds a warningtone at regular intervals.In this condition, your device conserves its remaining battery power by dimming the screen.When the battery level becomes too low, the device automatically turns off.For a quick check of your battery level:nView the battery charge indicator located in the top right corner of your device’s display. A solidcolor () indicates a full charge.You can also choose to display a percentage value. Viewing a percentage value can provide a betteridea of the remaining charge on the battery. For more information, see .While charging, the device and the charger may become hot when using wireless charging or fastcharging. This does not affect the device’s lifespan or performance and is in the device’s normalrange of operation.The charger may stop charging if the battery becomes too hot.If the device heats up while charging the battery:1. Disconnect the charger from the device and close any running apps.2. Wait for the device to cool down, and then begin charging the device again.lIf the lower part of the device overheats, check for damage to the connected USB cable.Replace the damaged USB cable with a new Samsung-approved cable.If using a wireless charger, do not place foreign materials between the device and the wirelesscharger.Micro-USB ConnectorYou can use the included Micro-USB connector to connect a Micro-USB cable (such as from yourold device) to your new device for charging with the charging head, or for connecting to a computer.Note: The Micro-USB connector does not support On-the-Go (OTG) devices such as memorysticks, external hard drives, or keyboard and mouse accessories.Set Up Your DeviceAssemble Your Device7

Reverse ChargingThe included USB connector allows you to charge another device through a USB cable.You can also use the USB connector for transferring contacts, photos, and other content from an olddevice. Important: Voicemail Passcode — It is strongly recommended that you create a passcode whensetting up your voicemail to protect against unauthorized access. Without a passcode, anyone whohas access to your phone is able to access your voicemail messages.Transfer Data from Your Old DeviceUse Smart Switch to transfer contacts, photos, and other content from your old device. You canalso use the included USB connector to copy content quickly and easily from your old device, withoutinstalling the Smart Switch app.Note: The USB option must be set to Media device (MTP) on the other device. Transferring contentwith a USB cable may increase battery consumption. Make sure your battery is fully charged.1. Connect your phone to your computer using the supplied USB/charging cable.llInsert the smaller end of the cable to the charger/accessory jack at the bottom of the phone.Insert the USB end of the cable into an available USB port on your computer. You may needto remove the USB cable from the charging head to access it.2. Pull down the status bar to display the notification panel. You will see either Transferringmedia files via USB, Transferring images via USB, Connecting MIDI devices via USB,or Charging via USB.llFor most transfers, you will want to use Transferring media files via USB.To change the option, tap it in the notification panel to open the Use USB for window, andthen tap the desired option.3. On your computer, navigate to the detected device (such as through the My Computer menu)and open it.4. If available, select a drive (Card for SD card, Phone for internal phone storage).5.
