We are excited to welcome you to the UCF/HCA GME Consortium (Gainesville)Obstetrics and Gynecology residency program! Our program received continuedaccreditation without outcomes in 2019 and accepts four residents per year. We arecurrently in our fourth year of recruitment and are excited for what the future holdsfor us.Our program is located in beautiful Gainesville, FL at North Florida Regional MedicalCenter (NFRMC). NFRMC offers comprehensive cardiovascular care, psychiatry,oncology, orthopedics, neurosciences, minimally invasive laparoscopic and roboticsurgery, weight loss surgery and treatment, women’s health and wound therapy,among other services. Our program is unique in that we have an academic affiliationwith the University of Central Florida, while still being located at a community hospital.Our program believes that the future of medicine begins in our communities. Ourgoal is to produce outstanding physicians who will meet the growing healthcare needsof our local residents. The mission of our program is to educate our residents in theentire breadth of obstetrics and gynecology and to help residents develop a lifelongcommitment to the learning and promotion of women’s healthcare.Residents will receive training in Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Ambulatory Medicine. Inaddition, residents will rotate through the subspecialty fields, Maternal-Fetal Medicine,Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, Urogynecology, and Gynecology Oncology.We also have half day didactic teaching every Friday where we cover the full breadth ofObstetrics and Gynecology, in addition to subspecialty lectures. About the programCurriculumIn addition to general obstetrics and gynecology, our program includes rotationsthrough all of the subspecialties, including maternal-fetal medicine (high-riskpregnancy), gynecologic oncology, reproductive endocrinology and infertility, andfemale pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery. Our full-service obstetrics/gynecology clinic will provide a wide range of experience and pathology.A unique feature of our program is the Advocacy rotation. Residents will learn howeconomic and political factors affect social determinates of health, and understandthe factors that lead to health health care disparities, including race, ethnicity,age, gender, disability, geographic location and socioeconomic circumstances.Most importantly, you will learn how to advocate for patient populations as well asindividual patients, particularly underserved and vulnerable women. In addition, wewill train residents on common methods of health care financing and cost-effectivecare while optimizing quality. Our goal is to create the physician leaders of the future.*Curriculum is subject to change throughout the year depending on the needs of theprogram.
