Een van die dae is dit weer SA’s en hierdie keerin Pretoria nogal by die Monument. Daarwas plek en ek het weer begin duiwe versamel ongelukkig moes ek weer verhuis vir bevorderingHead Judge - Renier Leeen die duiwe moes gaan. Uiteindelik ontmoet ektoe op Durbanville vir Dick Hattingh en ons besluit toe ek sal Mookees en Modenas teel soos hy.Ongelukkig moes ek toe weer skuif na Burgersdorpom skoolhoof te speel. Daar bou ek toe weer hokke en kry by Dick Hattingh twee paar Mookees entwee paar Silver Swael Modenas.Dis hier waar ek seker die “gentleman” van Sierduiwe naamlik Jack Forbes ontmoet het. Jack het geteel met Tuimelaars wat hulle van Mike Knaggs uitEngeland ingevoer het. Jack was baie in Modenasgeinteresseerd en ek koop toe Gerhard van Beeckse Silver en Swael stoet. Met die deel van die duiwe ontmoet ek toe skoonbeen Langgesig Tuimelaars. Net daar besluit ek dis eintlik die die duiwewat ek wil hê en gee Jack Forbes vir my twee paarswartes en ‘n ingevoerde paar blou grizzles.Tyd om te skuif het weer aangebreek en ek is Robertson waar ek later afgetree het as skoolhoof. Hierdie keer het die duiwe saam getrek. Ek en JackForbes het aangehou teel met ons Tuimelaars enbaie skoue bygewoon. Daardie jare was ‘n SA’s ‘nbelewenis. Almal het gewoonlik twee of drie duiwein ‘n klas geskou - die beste een, die een wat diebeoordelaar gaan laat wen en een vir geluk. Intussen het ek ook Kings - onder andere die eersteeen wat nie wit was nie - van Amerika ingevoer. Ekwas ook die eerste ou wat Domestic Show Flightsingebring het. Dit is vir enige ras belangrik dat jygetalle moet teel sodat jy streng kan selekteer. Ekhet goeie voerders gehad en redelik geteel. Ek isnet jammer dat ek nie duiwe meer onder anderouens versprei het nie.Dit was gou vir my duidelik dat ek gaan sukkel omgereelde invoerders van Tuimelaars te klop. Ek hetingeteken op die “American Pigeon Journal” en ‘nstudie gemaak van die Tuimelaars en die telers.Uiteindelik het ek duiwe van Fred Drumm ingevoermaar dit was nie goed genoeg vir my nie en ek hetkontak gemaak met Jim Bush en hom geld aangebied vir baie goeie duiwe. Daar moet onthou worddat die siening dat ‘n Tuimelaar enige kleur magwees solank dit swart is daardie dae gegeld het.Keith Leigh het dit byna reggekry om die swartes inte haal met sy rooi en geel duiwe. Onder die duiwewat ek toe gekry het was daar ‘n teager splash wyfie wat later ‘n mannetjie geword het en wat die kernvan my stoet was. Hierna was my kop deur en toealmal begin sien dat die swart duiwe nie noodwendig meer die beste is nie, het ek begin wen.Ek kan nie meer die jaartalle onthou nie, maar ekhet top algehele toekennings in Johannesburg gehaal toe ek beste jong duif op skou gewen het met‘n splash wyfie. Sy was die beste duif wat ek geteelhet. Die enigste rede waarom sy nie kampioen wasnie, was omdat haar kondisie op daardie stadiumnie goed was nie - Johannesburg is vêr.
