LeRoy .This being the Third Sunday in Advent, I hope your Adventspiritual journey is going well, that you are finding new ways to discoverGod at work in your life. This weekend you may see the presiders atMass wearing pink! Not that I am a fan of ‘men wearing pink’ but thischange of colors is a reminder that although Advent is essentially apenitential season, it is ‘softened’ by the joy and anticipation that aSavior is coming. Soon to be born to redeem us and manifest God’sunconditional love. This is one reason why the Third Sunday in Adventis also called “Rejoice Sunday” or “Gaudete Sunday” in Latin. It ismeant to heighten our awareness of God’s presence among us, even inour darkness and that God has a great hope for us all! So, what do youhope for this Advent season? What promise do you hold in your mindand heart? This season I encourage everyone to deepen yourawareness of God at work in your life and to get in touch with that hopewhich only God can fill in our life. One way to deepen our hope and enrich our spirits is to attendour showing of the “The Francis Impact”. This is a documentary filmwhich we will be showing at the Church of St. Peter on Wednesday,December 18th starting at 6:30 pm. in the church proper. Thisdocumentary film was made by “Salt and Light Productions” based out ofCanada. Some years ago they made a film entitled “The Francis Effect”not long after Pope Francis was appointed our new Pontiff. This film wasshown on PBS, national T.V. This second film entitled “The FrancisImpact” is meant to be a sequel and to document, in concrete ways, whatreal impacts Pope Francis has made in our church and in our world. Thedocumentary tells the story of real-life human experiences and focuseson 4 things: 1) Global migration. 2) Environment. 3) Economic trade. 4)Reform of the Annulment process. What makes this so exciting is thefact that members of our own parish at St. Peter are showcased in thisinternational film in regard to the reformed annulment process! Thevideo is about 90 min. long and we will have a short discussionfollowing. All are welcome and invited to attend our showing, so pleasecome and join us and make this part of your Advent journey andexperience! See you at the movies!Peace!Fr. LeRoy Scheierl

Please call the Parish Offices for St. Peter’s and St. Paul’s at 2514831 Ext. 218.Due to the limited amount of room in the bulletin (especially when 1bulletin will serve all 4 parishes) we find it necessary to keepnames in the PRAYER CORNER for a 2-week period. After thattime, we will be happy to reinstate names as requested.4Pastoral Care MinistryHolidays for Those Who are GrievingThe bereaved often struggle to balance their personal grief andloneliness against the pressure of joyful social obligation. If anyone asked, they would likely say that they have an emotional"wish list" that would be helpful in getting through this most stressfulseason: I wish that I could be alone, or with others, only when I choose. Others would know instinctively when I wanted or did not want to talkabout my feelings. They would know how to show their caring for mysituation without awkwardness, uneasiness or embarrassment (forthem or for me). There would be acceptance of me, just as I am, without criticism orjudgment-including an understanding of my feelings, my strugglesand my current outlook on life. No one would assume that enough time had passed for me to be"over my loss." They would not assume they know what's best for me.If you have questions or need help, we now have a Center for LifeTransitions, a non-profit, community-based grief center providingresources: support and therapeutic services; education, training andsupervision; and outreach to those experiencing major life changes orchallenges.
