OUR CURRICULUMWe work very hard with our partner primary schoolsto ensure students have a smooth transition fromKey Stage 2 to Key Stage 3. During their early yearsat the Academy students follow programmes oflearning which build upon their previous experiencesfrom primary school. We view the Curriculum as the sum total of all the learningexperiences within the Academy, not simply the identifiablesubjects. There is a clear focus upon the core subjects ofMathematics, Science, English and with a strong emphasison Humanities and Foreign Languages. The educationalexperience is further enhanced through Technology(including Art and Design), Performing Arts, and PhysicalEducation & Sport along with other cultural, enterprise andpersonal challenge activities.Students build upon their experiences from the early years atthe Academy studying for GCSE and vocational qualificationsduring Key Stage 4 (14 – 16 age range). Throughout theCurriculum all students take part in work-related learningand placement activities. As a result each student has a broadfoundation, which over time is increasingly personalised tofully release their potential and to meet the ambition andaspirations of the individual.10
