It is the mostuseful and powerful professional development session I have done inover 9 years of teaching. The activities presented are enriching andengaging and many fit beautifully into the Alberta Science andChemistry curricula. It is activities like those that are presented atthis camp that engage students and get them excited about learningscience and pursuing science as a career.”The 2012 ASM/NACE Calgary Materials Camp for Teachers was asuccessful and well received opportunity for science teachers toexplore and then teach about corrosion and the corrosion industry. Much of the success of thisendeavor is due to the hard work and commitment of Membership Chair Jana Johnson over the pastfew years.Because of the amount of planning and organizing that is required to make each camp happen, aseparate Executive portfolio has now been established for the camp. The new NACE Chair for theTeacher Camp is Jennifer Dickason and Vice-Chair is Sherry Thomson.Plans for the 2013 camp are already underway, so if you know of a teacher who may be interestedin participating, please encourage them to contact Jennifer at teachercamp@nacecalgary.ca.NACE News is produced four times a year by theExecutive Committee of NACE Calgary Section.Click here to provide feedback,or to submit an article or story idea.www.nacecalgary.ca
