Imaging ConferenceOverviewEducational Objectives1. Given challenging clinical scenarios, suchas pregnancy or emergency and traumamedicine, enhance diagnostic acumen inevaluating the entire body using MR, MRSpectroscopy, CT, PET, US and non-invasiveangiography.2. Demonstrate improved detection and characterization of disease and injury based onnew and advanced imaging techniques.ALL BROCHURE PHOTOS ARE COURTESY OF ERIC J. STERN, M.D.Target AudienceThe course material is intended for clinicalradiologists in either general or specializedpractice, and is appropriate for radiologistsin training. Familiarity with the fundamentals of CT, MR, PET, and US technology andapplications, as well as basic anatomy, isassumed.Statement of NeedThe continued rapid evolution of technology in CT, MR, PET, and US, with the consequent modification and expansion ofclinical applications for these techniques, has resulted in an ongoing need for anannual, all-encompassing course introducing the latest developments in the field, while reviewing and updating establishedproven applications for these modalities.Additionally, new concepts and understandings regarding common diseasesnecessitate timely periodic review of clinical disorders. Due to the explosive growthof the field of radiology it is imperativefor practicing radiologists to continuallyupdate their skills and gain exposure tonew information. Maintenance of certification requires continued review ofessential imaging techniques in all areasof radiology, including abdominal, thoracic, musculoskeletal, cardiac, breast and women’s imaging, and neuroradiology.Course DescriptionThe 27th Annual “Morton A. Bosniak Headto Toe Imaging Conference” in its entiretyoffers an intensive 5 1/2 day program reviewing Neurologic, Musculoskeletal, Pediatric,Abdominal, Thoracic, Cardiac, Breast, Women’s, Trauma and Emergency Imaging, PET/CT,and interventional techniques. An innovative feature of this course is that individualsections of the program can be attended ona daily basis, allowing course content to betailored to the unique interests and requirements of each registrant. The purpose of this course is to provide theregistrant with an overview of state-of-theart imaging methods as they pertain to clinical practice, and to introduce advances in thefield in terms of imaging technology and disease diagnosis and management. The courseis designed to examine the practical aspectsof established CT, MRI, US, and PET techniques,as well as to introduce new techniques andapplications for these modalities. Plenary sessions and workshops have been structured toreview pathologic processes and image interpretation, and to update the registrant onadvanced applications and image analysis. The one-day Interventional course will providean overview of current interventional techniques and therapies, geared toward radiologists who perform limited IR procedures andimage patients following intervention. Inthis session, hands-on workshops runningconcurrently with didactic lectures will enableattendees to refine their freehand ultrasoundintervention skills and gain familiarity with awide variety of interventional devices.AcknowledgementsThe organizers gratefully acknowledgethe educational grants received from thefollowing organizations:Bayer HealthCare PharmaceuticalsSIEMENS MEDICAL SOLUTIONS, INC.3. Given patients presenting with CNS neoplasia, degenerative joint disease, bonemarrow disorders, focal and diffuse liverdisease, interstitial lung disease, atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, andbreast cancer, among other conditions, design optimized protocols utilizing stateof-the-art imaging technology, based onnew imaging algorithms.4. In assessing the rapid evolution of newimaging technology, critically evaluate thestrengths and weaknesses of these methodologies and apply optimal utilization ofthese techniques in clinical practice.5. Through lectures and hands-on workshops, demonstrate familiarity with freehandultrasound interventional techniques anda variety of interventional devices.Course FormatThe course runs for 5 1/2 days, with a combination of didactic lectures and interactiveworkshops on most days. Pre-registrationfor workshops is not required. Attendance ofthe entire course will provide a comprehensive imaging review, including advanced andcutting edge techniques. Registrants maychoose to enroll in any combination of individual course days, thereby creating a uniquecourse content tailored to an individual’sdistinct interests.Day 1: Abdominal Imaging and PET/CTDay 2: Musculoskeletal and EmergencyImagingDay 3: Neuroradiology and PediatricRadiologyDay 4: Thoracic and Cardiac ImagingDay 5: Women’s and Breast ImagingDay 6: Interventional Radiology
