Concurrent BSN Quick FactsWhat is a Concurrent program? It is a partnership between UCF and Seminole State or Valencia. You are completing your nursingeducation through UCF and the partner college at the same time.1. You will earn an ASN degree in from Seminole or Valencia, while completing UCF’s BSN coursework at same time.2. You take the NCLEX (licensing exam) upon earning the ASN degree, in order to obtain your RN license.3. You will graduate with your BSN degree from UCF, earning both degrees in just 6 semesters.Am I a UCF student the entire time? YES! You are a student at both colleges (UCF and the partner college) until the ASN degree is earned. You are aUCF student throughout the entire program.How do I apply to a Concurrent program? Undergraduate PetitionWhere to locate the APG Petition:Admissions Bachelor’s Degrees If any of the 8 nursing prerequisites were taken out of state or at a privatecollege, you must submit this petition. Completed petition form, along with course description directly from thecatalog, goes before a faculty committee the 2nd Tuesday of every month. Decisions are sent via email 5-10 business days after the meeting.

Acceptance NotificationWithin 6-8 weeks of the application deadline, all applicants willreceive notification of their status via email. Check email regularlyfor updates!1. Conditional Admission2. Waitlist3. DeniedWhat is the waitlist? A portion of students are placed on the waitlist every applicationcycle. The student could be moved from waitlist and given a spot in theprogram up until 2 weeks before the program begins. Once the program begins, the waitlist goes away. Students not admitted from the waitlist must submit a new nursingapplication for the upcoming term to be considered.
Requirements After Conditional Admission Background Check and Fingerprints Students will not be admitted if they cannot pass a Level 2 background check per Florida Statute 04 Waivers are at sole discretion of all clinical partners to which a student may be assigned. No one will be admitted with an offense for which they cannot be licensed as an RN. Out of state students are encouraged to complete this requirement during application window toavoid delays. If completed early, results may not be older than two months prior to the application deadline. Medical Document Tracker College of Nursing Health Form Immunizations, TB/PPD Test, Physical, Drug Screening Student must be physically and mentally capable of performing the duties of a nurse. Health Insurance You must provide your own insurance each semester in the program. UCF offers Student HealthInsurance. CPR Certification Required course is by the American Heart Association—course for Health Professionals. Drug Screening 14 panel exhaustive screening process-checks for all narcotics, including prescription medicationsand alcohol Both the College of Nursing and our affiliates require that all students submit a “negative” resultfor drug screening.*Concurrent Seminole and Valencia students will complete these requirements through the partner college.*

What to Expect as aNursing Student
Snapshot—Life as a Nursing Student Demanding course curriculum Enrolled in approximately 13-19 credit hourseach semester Large time commitment Approximately 50-60 hours per week. Time isdevoted to lecture, lab, and clinical, as well astravel time, study time, getting ready time, etc. Day program Similar to having a full-time job that meets roughlyMonday-Friday, 8am-5pm.
Nursing Program Factors to Consider Transportation Must provide your own to/from class, lab, clinical. Knights Email Address Must use this address throughout the program. We do notcommunicate via personal addresses. Dress Code Lecture—In your own clothes. Must be dressed appropriately andconservatively. Lab/Clinical—In uniform (UCF scrubs). Cannot have any visibletattoos or piercings. (Females can have one piercing in each ear).
