We welcomeall new students to our Hackett family.The first day of school is Friday, August24th.Class SchedulesSchedule change forms are available inthe Guidance or Main Office. They arealso available online at the HCC website under “Parents” “Forms”. Theseforms must be filled out and signed byboth the student and parent. Returnyour completed form to the GuidanceDepartment with the 25.00 schedulechange fee. The last day to change aschedule for the first semester will beThursday, August 30th.College VisitsEach year, Hackett Catholic Centralhosts many in-house “college visits”.College/university admissions representatives visit HCC, during the schoolday, to speak about their college oruniversity with our junior and seniorstudents. Students will only be allowed to attend three visits duringthe school year. Please help your student choose the college visits whichwill be most beneficial to them. It is thestudent’s responsibility to make up allwork missed during the visit. A calendarof these visits is posted and updated inthe Guidance Office and on the HCCwebsite, as they are scheduled. To attend, students must sign-up, 24 hoursin advance, in Mrs. Ulbrich’s office.Additionally, most colleges/universitieshost “campus visits” at various timesthroughout the year, especially in thefall and spring. We post this information to the HCC Daily Announcements(Mondays only), online, along withscholarship opportunities. Hackettstudents are allowed 3 excusedabsences for college visits during the 2nd semester of theirjunior year and 1st semester oftheir senior year. These absencesare not included in their total for the semester, but they must be prearranged.Prearranged absence forms are available in the Main Office.The Guidance Office and the Library/Media Center also house many collegeadmission reference materials including: “The College Board Book of Majors”, Peterson’s “Four Year Colleges”,Kaplan’s “ACT Prep” and Kaplan’s “TheProcrastinators Guide to the ACT”.College ApplicationsAttention seniors! Now is the time tostart applying to college(s)! For instructions on how to apply, seniors shouldrefer to their copy of the “HCC College Planner”, which was distributedto them their junior year. College applications are available on-line; a feware available in the Guidance Office.If you choose to apply on-line, “save”and print a copy of your application before pressing send/submit. Bring thiscopy to the Guidance Office when yourequest that your required official transcript be sent (by HCC) to the appropriate college/university. If you chooseto apply on paper, please bring youractual application to the Guidance Office. Always allow two weeks for eachapplication to be processed. Be awareof your deadlines! Your goal should beto have all of your college applicationscompleted by October 26th!Keep your resume updated!! Ask forteacher letters of recommendation early (If a letter is required.). Other important information to remember: 1) Knoweach college’s application deadline. 2)When applying for financial aid, do soas early as possible, as most schoolsfollow a first come, first serve basis. 3)Be sure to take either test of choice,ACT or SAT, twice. ***SPORTS PASS***Family Athletics Pass2012-13 School YearApplicationPlease consider the HCC Family Pass as a way to accomplish a number of goals: You can savemoney, it is a wonderful convenience and you can support Irish Athletics.The passes are good for all regular season home events including: Varsity and JV Football, Varsityand JV Boys and Girls Soccer, Freshman, JV and Varsity Volleyball, Freshman, JV and Varsity Boysand Girls Basketball, Girls Swim.Each member of the family will receive his/her own pass as a convenience.HCC Students can purchase a Student Athletic Pass for 30.00 in the athletic office OR it will be included with the purchase of a family pass.Additional methods to save money as a spectator include the option for HCC students to purchasetickets at school for 2.00. These tickets are not valid for home events, but they are accepted atother KVA schools. These tickets are not available to adults. Yearbook NewsSeniors: It’s time to start thinking about senior pictures! We would like 2-3 photos ofeach senior:1 senior photo, 1 baby photo, and 1 siblingphoto (if applicable). DRESS CODE ENFORCEMENTOn all occasions, students will be removed from class and sent to the main office. Students will remain in the office, receiving NO CREDIT for class work, until appropriate attire can be found. This may necessitate a phone call to the parent.Students will not be allowed to leave school and return home in order to obtain appropriate attire.A 30-minute detention will be assigned to students who do not follow the dress code by either the administration or theclassroom teacher. Chronic offenders will be subject to further penalty for insubordination as described in the studenthandbook including in-school or out-of-school suspensions.SPIRIT DAY DRESS CODE OPTIONSpirit days will be held on Fridays during the school year unless announced otherwise. On spirit days, students are allowed to wear 2012-2013 Hackett Spirit Shirts if they choose with their uniform pants, shorts or skirts.
