Homeland Security EducationCenter (HEC)Student Resource Center (SRC)Homeland Security Education Center (HEC)Homeland Security Training Center (HTC)The Homeland Security Education Center houses the CriminalJustice and Fire Science programs, the Police Department,Homeland Security Training Institute and the SuburbanLaw Enforcement Academy. This comprehensive, multijurisdictional training center includes a full-scale indoor streetscene for force-on-force exercises, forensics and cybercrimeslabs, a command center designed to instruct National IncidentManagement System protocols, a smoke room with moveablewalls for EMS and fire rescue simulations, a fully functionalmock courtroom, a full-size ambulance and an outdoor scalingand rappelling tower. Also, as you walk through this buildingyou will witness a piece of history. College of DuPage wasselected as one of the few educational facilities in the U.S.to receive a relic from the Twin Towers following 9/11. It is aceiling beam and weighs more than 1,000 pounds.Homeland Security Training Center (HTC)Student Services Center (SSC)New and continuing students can find plenty of assistancewhen they walk through the “front door” of College ofDuPage. Here you will find representatives from Admissionsand Outreach, Student Financial Assistance, StudentRegistration Services, Career Services, Veterans Services,and Center for Access and Accommodations. You will alsofind academic counselors and advisors, and Campus Central,with representatives who can answer your questions andpoint you in the right direction. Need a cup of coffee or asnack? Stop by Starbucks on the second floor. Student Life,home to more than 60 clubs and student organizations, is onthe first floor. You can also have your Student Photo ID takenhere or hang out in the Student Life Lounge.The Homeland Security Training Center includes a state-ofthe-art indoor firing range and a 911 call center training lab. Thefiring range, which measures 100 feet by 50 yards, features 24target positions, running man targets and a simulator to replicatea variety of scenarios for both proximity and tactical training.Squad cars can be driven into the range to teach police cadetshow to properly and safely approach suspects and vehicles. Thefacility also contains several multi-purpose classrooms, a 911 callcenter training room for employees working at dispatch centers,and a cutting-edge VirTra V-300 firearms simulator.Berg Instructional Center (BIC)Named after College of DuPage’s founding President, Dr.Rodney K. Berg, the BIC contains classrooms and facultyoffices. On every floor of the BIC you can find space to relaxand study in a variety of Student Commons areas, alongwith vending machines for snacking. You will also find theTesting Center and Cashier’s Office on the second floor,while the Honors Program, Courier Newspaper, and Fieldand Experiential/Study Abroad offices are on the thirdfloor. The building also houses labs for Bio-Anthropology,Math, Engineering CADD, Geology and Hydroscience,Forecast and Meteorology.Institutional Resource Center (IRC)The Institutional Resource Center (IRC) was repurposedand remodeled in 2019 to house administrative offices forMarketing and Communications Department, Planning andInstitutional Effectiveness Department, Support ServicesDivision and Procurement Division.Institutional Resource Center (IRC)Technical Education Center (TEC)Student Resource Center (SRC)You will always find students coming and going in theStudent Resource Center. The first floor includes ContinuingEducation, the Bookstore, Cafeteria and WDCB Radio.The SRC is also home to Learning Commons, a one-stopacademic support center. On the second floor, you will findthe Jack H. Turner Conference Center, Records Office andthe Library’s main entrance. There is another entrance tothe Library on the SRC third floor along with the AcademicComputing Center.Technical Education Center (TEC)The Technical Education Center houses the Architecture,Interior Design, Horticulture, Automotive Technology,Computer-Aided Design, Construction Management,Electro-Mechanical Technology, HVAC, ManufacturingTechnology and Welding Technology programs. The TECincludes 31 classrooms, 16 state-of-the-art laboratories,including a greenhouse, as well as space for raw materialsand vehicular storage. The LEED-certified center wasdesigned with sustainability in mind and features twowindmills and four solar panels on its roof.Student Services Center (SSC)27

Seaton Computing Center (SCC)Physical Education Center (PEC)The Physical Education Center has a visible and vibrantmain entrance to welcome students and the communitywith an open lobby area and concession area. Interestedin working out? The Chaparral Fitness Center includesa stretching area, spinning room, cardiovascular/fitnessroom and areas for group fitness programs along withmonitors and sound system. There is a competitiveswimming pool, along with scoreboards and a runningtrack in the arena. If you are a student-athlete, the 14,000square-foot Varsity Athletic room includes men’s andwomen’s locker rooms, a strength lab and training room forall Chaparral athletes to enjoy.Health and Science Center (HSC)The Health and Science Center is a leading-edge hometo programs that include Nursing, Dental Hygiene,Diagnostic Medical Imaging, Physical Therapist Assistantand Surgical Technology. Inside the HSC you will discovera CT scanner, an operating room, full dental lab, medicalimaging laboratories, and a “SIM Hospital” containing fourprivate rooms, an operational nurse’s station, a simulationde-briefing room and use of high-fidelity manikins. The Ticket Office was relocated to amore visible location, eliminating cramped lines for patrons.There is also a new concession and bar area in the lobby.The Cleve Carney Museum of Art was added to showcaseregional and national contemporary artists, including theFriday Kahlo, Timeless exhibition in summer of 2021, whilethe Performance Hall includes updated seating and walltreatments, a new HVAC system and improved acoustics tomake your experience one you won’t forget.
