Our current plan, Strategic Plan 2026,provides focus to our commitment to inspiring, challenging, and preparing our students during years 2021 - 2026. Themost important part about Strategic Plan 2026 is that it wasbuilt from feedback provided from a variety of stakeholdergroups. Specifically, 30 Strategic Planning meetings wereheld throughout the Auburn-Washburn school communitywith the Board of Education, students, staff, parents, KansasBoard of Regents, Kansas State Department of Education,Topeka Chamber, Washburn University and Washburn Tech, and local business leaders. It was truly a community effort!Dr. Scott McWilliams,Superintendent ofSchoolsFor students, we remain committed to the following two goals:1. Academic Success – to improve the academic performance of each student,and2. Skills for Success – to develop “Portrait of a Learner” attributes with eachstudent. In addition to those two student goals, based on staff and community feedback, the following areas were identified as opportunities to pursue through 2026:1. Birth to Age 5 - to increase the number of age three and four-year-oldstudents enrolled in early childhood programs so each student enterskindergarten at age five socially, emotionally, and academically prepared forsuccess.2. Social-Emotional Needs – to identify and implement successful strategies toaddress students’ social-emotional needs.3. Instruction and Programming – target student engagement strategies, integrate financial literacy standards, and integrate technology at eachgrade level.4. Career and Technical Education – create ways for students to learn ininnovation-focused, industry-standard work spaces and to collaborate withlocal business partners and skilled professionals.5. School Capacity and Configuration – over the next four years ofconstruction and renovation, seek efficiencies, remain on or ahead ofschedule, stress innovation, opportunity, and excellence, and completeeach project in a way that our community will be proud to support. It is an extremely exciting time in the Auburn-Washburn school community.Thank you for supporting our work with students!
